Patient
The Sands-Constellation Heart Institute was a very nice place in the past. Good medical care and every member of their team treated the patients with dignity and respect. George Pancio was always kind and had the patient's best interest in mind. That was in the past. Sadly, that is no longer the case. I recently visited Dr. Pancio at the Sands-Constellation Heart Institute for my annual Cardiologist appointment. I was all checked in by 8:00 am, the scheduled appointment time. I waited in the waiting room for 15 minutes when Sofia came out to get me. I gave her a cheery hello even though I had to wait. Her reply was "You're late buddy!" Not only was I unjustly accused, but I was also scolded and spoken to in a condescending manner. I sat in the examination room for another 27 minutes, for a grand total of 42 minutes waiting to see Dr. Pancio. When he walked in the door I gave him another cheery greeting. His reply was to tell me I was late for my appointment, and therefore I was made to wait because there was another patient who arrived on time. Unjustly accused again. More scolding, condescension, and an utter lack of dignity and respect. Dr. Pancio rushed through the appointment with little concern for my well being. How does the culture that enables this behavior exist in a medical institution? And what kind of management team creates and maintains that culture?" By the way, I have been kept waiting many times at the Sands-Constellation Heart Institute by other service providers (not George Pancio) in the past. The last time I visited the Sands-Constellation Heart Institute, I was kept waiting for about 50 minutes due to check-in and internal communication errors. On that occasion, and every other occasion, I was kind and understanding. I expect to be treated the same, especially when I was actually on time. What happened to the Hippocratic Oath and basic human decency?
