Cardiovascular Wellness: Ameeta Walia, DO, FACC, FASE

I initially chose Dr. Walia based on her positive reviews and the convenient location of her office. During my first visit, I was very impressed with her attentiveness and genuine concern for my health. She listened carefully and made me feel confident in her care. However, after that initial visit, all of my follow-up appointments were conducted by the nurse practitioner. While the NP was courteous and professional, there were several questions I had that I believe Dr. Walia could have addressed with more certainty and expertise. Additionally, I have experienced ongoing difficulties obtaining my test results. Despite multiple follow-up calls, some studies were not sent to me a timely manner. One study, completed more than a month ago, had still not been sent as of my most recent inquiry. This delay unfortunately impacted my care, as my electrophysiologist required those results before proceeding with my treatment. While I appreciate the initial quality of care I received from Dr. Walia, the lack of consistent communication and follow-through has been disappointing.

Joanne St. Pierre is amazing! She's brilliant, kind and takes the time to address all my questions! My mom was a regular patient of Dr. Walia, so I know her Joanne very well. They take the time to listen to the patients and to make sure the patient feels heard, seen & understood. The waiting time is never too long. All the practitioners in this office are very thorough.

She is the best doctor I've ever gone to. She really took her time to know my reasoning of coming in, wait time was not long, less than 5 min from arrival. Did all the tests at the office and blood work right around the corner of the office. It shows how much she cares for her patients and very attentive to details. I would highly recommend her. I've already recommended her to my family and friends and boast the compassionate care she provided to me.

RUN!!!! VERY DISSATISFIED!!!! This doctor is a cruel joke!!! It's unbeknownst to me how she is still in practice after so many horrible reviews and complaints. This office only cares about money and treats everyone like a cash cow. If you even sneeze, they want to medicate you so that they can make money off of every prescription they give on a monthly and annual basis. The doctor is literally in bed with the pharmaceutical industry. She is also quite arrogant, although she plays it off as if she's nice. When you go into her office, you'll find 50 people waiting two hours just to see her and when you think you will see her, instead, it's the NP who you see. You rarely ever see the doctor. And if you complain about that and demand to see the doctor, she will come in and see you very bothered and for just a few short moments. I began treatment with her practice desperately trying to get off the one medication I was on. Instead, I leave with her putting me on three medications. And when she realized that one of my prescriptions was actually given to me by my PCP and I wanted to reduce the dosage, she did something interesting. Instead of sending me to my PCP to do so, she wrote up a brand new prescription for the same medication with a lower dosage so that my PCP gets knocked out of the financial playing field. That's a really low move. I'm totally not surprised that her NP, who was really great, left her side because of the many complaints. If her office even tries to respond to this review, don't pay mind to their senseless jargon. RUN THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION!!! Trust me, I'm a health researcher and I know a quack when I see one. Since her office was located in my area, I just tried her out. Don't be afraid to travel to see an actual good doctor. Don't settle for whoever is in your area. Good luck!!!!!

Dr. Walia is indeed the best cardiologist in Long Island and one of the best in New York. Very knowledgable and compassionate with her patients. Liz one of the NP's and the rest of the staff are on point!
