WOW !! Had a watchman procedure today. Dr. Iyer is a rockstar. His staff is awesome. On my way home now. Thank You Dr.Iyer & everyone that took care of me. GVI runs like a well oiled machine !

Aortic valve replacement surgery (TAVR) had a perfect outcome. Surgery was done promptly and was thoroughly explained.No problems at all, went home the next day- and I've got my normal life back!

If I could give negative stars I would. WARNING for anyone going in for a watchman procedure-do not do it. This Dr. will pretend he is the one that is going to be performing the procedure, when in fact he does not. My Stepmom's watchman procedure resulted in a torn aorta, open heart surgery, over a month in the Cardio ICU, still on a vent at a specialty hospital and is attempting to learn how to breath, walk and talk again for what should have been a simple minimally invasive procedure. Dr. Iyer never communicated with my father about what occurred, lied that he did, and stated he was not in the room during the procedure. Do not recommend whatsoever.

My 49 year old husband was diagnosed with a genetic heart defect late February 2018 - HOCM. He was referred to Dr. Iyer by Great Lakes Cardiology; scheduled for a Septal Ablasion. After meeting with Dr. Iyer and not feeling confident in our discussions with him, we secured a second opinion appointment at the Cleveland Clinic. The specialist at the clinic professionally disagreed with the treatment my husband had already received as well as the plan Dr. Iyer had recommended and quickly scheduled my husband for open heart surgery -- a septal myectomy with the #1 surgeon in the US for this condition. Dr. Iyer's nurse called us ironically approximately 6 days post Cleveland Clinic open heart surgery to follow up on our previous appointment with Dr. Iyer and schedule my husband for the Ablasion. We informed her that we had gone to the clinic who disagreed with everything Dr. Iyer and his affiliates had done, who told us that if we had gotten the Ablasion it would not have been successful and that my husband would have then not been a candidate for the open heart surgery and would then likely have a shortened life. She responded that she was happy we went to the clinic, that she had been trying to get to the clinic herself for training and that Dr. Iyer and staff are just not equipped to treat my husbands condition. At no point during our time with Dr. Iyer and his affiliates did any of them refer us to the Cleveland Clinic nor suggest that they were ill equipped to manage/treat my husbands condition. They instead recommended a course of action with confidence that could have left my husband for dead. It is our opinion that Dr. Iyer's inability to recognize and admit his inadequacies to treat certain ailments is unprofessional, unacceptable and a huge flaw in his professional abilities.

We have made 3 calls to his office after getting a referral to him and no one has bothered to call us back to arrange an appointment. Unbelievably poor communication. No one in his office cares. Meanwhile our Mother grows weaker. This is beyond unacceptable.
