Patient
Horrible, terrible doctor. I took my mom with severe lower back pain and herniated discs. She was in excruciating pain. The attending medical student Matthew conducted a thorough questionnaire and interview. He asked poignant questions about medical history and felt the back pain and carried out other physiological tests to see if everything was okay. Then he went to the "resident physician" Dr. Chirag N. Shah who came in quickly, summarily dismissed my mom's claim as not worthy of an "emergency" and asked to inject her arm with a 2 hour pain killer. Didn't ask any follow-up questions, in fact I had to correct him several times about the type of pain my mom was having. It was as if he came in just to dismiss her and or minimize our concerns and had the gall to say E.R. is only for those with traumatic, life-threatening injuries and we need to go back to our regular physician who was the person to told us to go the E.R. for treatment in the first place! I don't know what has happened to this country and what kind of physicians and lack of patient care that Robert Wood Johnson/ Barnabas Health in New Brunswick tolerates, but our experience and the care we received was not right. If you have a loved one, please do yourself a favor and don't go to Dr. Chirag N. Shah or this hospital. Sadly go anywhere, but to the ER at RWJUH-New Brunswick!
