We all know our healthcare system is broken, but Optum is the worst. I have seen children run lemonade stands with more intelligence and professionalism than this company. If not for government subsidies and restrictions on medical licenses, this company would have gone out of business long ago for providing absolutely horrible customer service. The agita and resulting high blood pressure caused by dealing with this company is one reason people ironically keep coming back to it. Nothing motivates me to work hard so I can someday afford a private physician, or at least a full-time assistant who can manage my periodic appointments, as each one takes weeks to schedule because this company rarely answers the phone.

Dr. Malik is very caring. But this practice is horrendous. Their actions make you feel that they do not care about you at all. First - if you are sick, you cannot get into see a doctor or other practitioner. I don't mean that I couldn't get into see my own doctor. I realize that my doctor might not be there. But to be told that there was no way that they could fit me in even though I have a persistent cough is demoralizing. Also - it took 3 phone calls and 3 messages on their portal to get a message back about getting a prescription refilled. The first person sent it to the wrong pharmacy. The next two calls got no response. Then I had to send 3 portal messages before someone responded and I still have to check with the pharmacy to see if the prescription was refilled. And the empathy and knowledge of the people who answer the phone is lacking. One person told me that the only way to get my prescription refilled was by seeing the doctor - which was wrong. The other person told me "well you know you aren't the only person calling the doctor who doesn't feel well." Talk about lacking empathy... And I tried to "stay on the line to answer a survey" and the survey never came.

I made a very important appointment with the cardiologist there. I arrived to my appointment and they told me my doctor had called out sick the night before . I would have appreciated a call instead of waiting me to travel by Uber all the way to the office the day of . The team was not helpful with rescheduling either. So far every appointment/ experience has had a similar theme. There is a lack of communication, professionalism at the front desk, disorganized, and hard to get a hold of.

My children used to be patients at Optum when it was Riverside. We left because the staff was very disrespectful and always made you feel like you were inconveniencing them. Sadly, my daughter's Pulmonologist (Dr. Ramneet Gill) relocated to another practice but we didn't know where. We LOVED her so much and were so happy to hear she was in Hoboken now. However, when I saw that she was with Optum I became hesitant to book an appointment. When I came to the reviews for this office it seems the same behaviors from the office staff that was present 3yrs ago hasn't changed. It doesn't matter if the name changed, what this group needs is change from within. The doctors are wonderful but it seems the medical staff needs more customer service training. In closing, as much as I desire for my daughter to be under Dr. Gill's care, I cannot and will not affiliate myself with Optum.

If I could give zero stars I would. Incredibly unprofessional receptionist staff, doctors have minimal knowledge and have misdiagnosed my husband twice. They've also made it IMPOSSIBLE to get test records, and then when I called to ask a question, they put me on with the doctor and then CHARGED ME FOR A VISIT. I'm honestly calling the better business bureau, it's unreal the incompetence, and frankly, scamming, going on here. I also got these two messages back to back from a random in my My Chart. Imagine??
