Kanika P Mody, M.D.

Dr. Mody is an outstanding cardiologist with deep expertise in heart failure. My mom has been under her care since undergoing a high-risk PCI this September, and we feel very fortunate to have her as our doctor. Because my mom doesn't speak English, it sometimes takes her a bit longer to communicate her symptoms. Dr. Mody is always patient, listens carefully, and treats her with great respect. She also encourages my mom to stay active at home and consistently takes the time to answer all of our questions. When my mom experiences symptoms at home, Dr. Mody and her team respond promptly by phone and adjusts medications as needed. Her guidance has made a tremendous difference in my mom's recovery and peace of mind. We truly appreciate her expertise, compassion, and dedication. Highly recommended.

I couldn't be more grateful for Dr .Mody and her team , especially Scott Stewart. My heart hurts to write this but thanks to Dr. Mody and her team my dad was given extra years to his life. She is truly compassionate, knowledgeable, and responsible. We are so thankful for the care my dad was given . My dad thought she was incredible and absolutely respected her. She was always thinking of his best interests and we couldn't be more thankful.

You are in extremely capable hands with Dr. K. Mody. She has been my doctor for heart failure since 2022. I truly don't believe I'd still be alive if she wasn't my doctor. She has improved the quality of my life by placing me on a medication that is allowing me to almost forget I am in heart failure i.e. less shortness of breath and fatigue. I can actually enjoy my life! And she respects my opinions and decisions which is another reason I trust her. So grateful and blessed to have her as my doc.

Dr. Mody is the best of the best. I feel very lucky to have her for my cardiologist. She listens, has the solution, explains everything, answers questions, puts you on a path to healing and has a lovely manner. I wouldn't want any other specialist.

My family and I sought care for my husband for many months due to his congestive heart failure with Doctor Kanika Mody. She is an advanced heart failure specialist who has an office in Hackensack, NJ and Hackensack Hospital. Under her care he had multiple hospitalizations. I only spoke to Dr. Mody once on the phone, at the beginning of his treatment. In the last month I stressed that I wanted to speak to her about his status. She could not be bothered to call me back. A nurse called me back and gave me no information. To be fair, each time he was in the hospital he had a Milrinone drip. In the beginning it worked and he would feel better for a short time. He eventually got an optimizer inserted. We were told it would take months to work. The whole time he was not getting enough oxygen in his body. His skin was mottled and purple. He had significant swelling in his feet and legs with unbearable pain. He was also having mild to moderate memory problems. Despite these symptoms and having little or no energy, Dr. Mody would often conclude that he was well enough to go home. She focused a lot on his vital signs which were good despite how sick he felt and was. My husband got so bad that that he could barely walk and was cognitively declining. On our last visit to Hackensack Hospital, Dr. Mody entered my husband's hospital room with an accusatory tone and defensive attitude. She made it clear she was annoyed that my daughter and I admitted him. She came in the room and grilled us to know why he was there, what did we think we would accomplish and said "We better get our goals together." Not once did she take me out in the hallway to give me status on his condition. When we told her we were there due to his physical and mental decline. She said "She only takes care of the heart." Cognitive decline or any other issues were not her concern. It is worth noting the cognitive decline was due to not getting enough oxygen to his brain. A classic symptom of severe heart failure. We knew that. Why didn't she? We asked about palliative care and she said, "I don't fill out those papers." "Call my office." She then walked out of the hospital room, and we never saw her again. My husband was released from the hospital a few days later with no additional treatment. He died two days later from heart failure and hypoxia at a local hospital. In the end this experience left my family feeling neglected and deeply frustrated. I sincerely hope that others do not go through the similar challenges with Dr. Kanika Mody. I hope that patients receive the compassionate and comprehensive care they deserve.
