My 3-year-old spent almost a month in Summerlin's PICU, and on the last day, I was informed they had opened a CPS case against me. I'd been there every single day and night.
Their reasons? "Housing concerns" because I brought some of her own toys. You should take a kid away for having toys, I guess. Most the toys in the room was even theirs but I guess the rotating staff didn't recognize that.
Another concern was her hygiene. There was no shower or wash basin in the room for me to clean her. I used wipes and paper towels just to keep her fresh. I brought hair supplies and changes of clothes from home. At every other hospital (Sunrise, St. Rose, and UMC), a nurse or CNA cleaned her and provided fresh gowns. Her stays there weren't nearly as long. At Summerlin, I had to bring personal clothes just to keep her changed. Instead of doing what I assumed was their job (a posted CNA checklist even includes "bathes"), they told CPS I didn't do it.
They also said I "slept too much." Forgive me -- had anyone shared that concern, I would have happily explained I'm pregnant and exhausted after sleeping in a hospital chair for a month surrounded by alarms and crying babies. No one asked how I was doing, just judged. For that, I had 24 hours to take a drug test. Not that it mattered -- but insulting and inconvenient to say the least.
The real tension started when my daughter's dad accidentally triggered her ankle alarm trying to take her to the gift shop for candy. His mistake upset staff, but I thought we'd moved past it. Dr. Koo and her nurse even said she was allowed downstairs with notice, and that they would remove her tag if parents were present. That turned out to be false -- because when he later asked again, they refused. They denied her own dad the chance to give her a short walk and candy bar after weeks without fresh air. Then they trespassed him and used that to start the CPS investigation. All he did was express frustration with words. There's a camera in the room that would show the truth.
That same ankle monitor left a rash or mark on her leg the first day, and no one explained how it happened or whether it was treated.
We are present, loving parents who were treated like criminals. I worry for the babies who don't have parents there daily -- who's checking their hygiene and comfort then?
Summerlin PICU was negligent, failed to communicate, and instead of mediation or accountability, chose retaliation and CPS. I am still shaken and disturbed.

I recently had a lumpectomy at Summerlin Hospital with Dr. Souzan El-Eid, and I cannot say enough wonderful things about the entire experience. From start to finish, every person I interacted with was professional, kind, and incredibly thorough.
During my pre-op visit, the staff walked me through everything with patience and clarity, which helped ease my nerves. On the day of surgery, the check-in process was quick and organized. The team explained what to expect, gathered all necessary information, and made sure I felt comfortable and supported.
The anesthesiologist--whose name I unfortunately don't remember--was excellent as well. He explained each step clearly and helped put me completely at ease before heading into the OR.
Dr. El-Eid spoke with me before the surgery and assured me that I would experience minimal to no pain afterward, possibly only needing Tylenol. I was skeptical, but she was absolutely right. I'm now one week post-op and haven't even needed a single Tylenol. Her skill, confidence, and compassion truly made all the difference. She is an outstanding surgeon and someone I would trust completely for any breast surgery, especially following a breast cancer diagnosis.
The nurses in post-op were just as wonderful--kind, attentive, and even brought me the most delicious apple juice when I woke up. Those small touches meant a lot.
Overall, my experience at Summerlin Hospital was exceptional. I highly recommend this hospital to anyone who needs surgery, and I cannot recommend Dr. Souzan El-Eid enough. She is truly the best.

I broke my ankle in Canada and scheduled an appointment with a podiatrist at SHMC to have my broken ankle looked at 3 weeks later. The doctor touched my ankle, talked to me for 5 minutes and had a nurse put on a "compression sock". I put on my walking boot and I left on my crutches. Both which I already paid for in Canada.
About 2 weeks later, I get 2 bills. One for the doctor, for about $300, which was covered by insurance. The other for $2,234 for "medical care", from 10/29-10/31, which looks like I was admitted to the hospital. Which I was not. The balance due was $250, which is the copay for a hospital visit.
I am currently disputing this charge, but what kind of rip-off (if this is correct) or incompetence is this? How is a quick check up with a doctor, cost $250 in co-pay with insurance? How does any one afford to get care in Vegas?
I have read that doctors offices that are inside a "hospital" facility, will bill astronomical "facility fees", so this $2k+ might be that? If this is true, then everyone should be asking that before they come here.
The podiatry office I went to was also a wound care site. The office was falling apart and felt really dirty. How is the wound care office so dirty? I was not very happy with my visit and will never be returning. I'm glad I cancelled my next "follow up" with the doctor because the facility is not what I'd expect in summerlin. But also glad I did not return because of this billing surprise. I don't know how this place has so many positive reviews.

All of my labor nurses and post partum nurses were absolutely amazing! I couldn't have asked for a better experience all around. They respected my wishes and went above and beyond! The anesthesiologist knew exactly what he was doing and I had the perfect epidural where I had full mobility of my legs and feet, but did not feel a thing. My whole experience here was absolutely amazing!!

Unfortunately, I was in the hospital for eleven days. The care I received was excellent. The nurses, CNA , food service, cleaning staff and of course my surgical team (Doctors) - (PT team)were the absolute best. Checking in on me at all hours.
They could have had a MD on call come by- since it was Thanksgiving holiday. I feel blessed to have received such wonderful care. Thank you everyone
