My interests include coronary revascularization, structural valve disease and valve replacement or repair, treatment of atrial fibrillation, as well as the treatment and cure of lung and mediastinal tumors. At the beginning of the year I had a procedure at NKC Hospital that did not go as planned and I ended up requiring surgery. I didn't have the opportunity to choose my own doctor when Dr Elder stepped in to help. Dr Elder is a thoracic surgeon at NKC Hospital. Dr Elder was great. He explained everything and took the time to listen to my concerns. After the first surgery, I felt great. He did an exceptional job. Care after the surgery was good. Dr Elder telephoned me personally and related another surgery was recommended since I had lung cancer. Dr Elder performed a second surgery to remove a larger part of my lung and surrounding lymph nodes. The second surgery was extremely painful since having another operation just six weeks after the first and the second surgery was basically the same as the first but more in-depth. Dr Elder again was amazing. He addressed my concerns and removed all the cancer the first surgery. Overall I was very impressed with Dr Elder. Bedside manner was great. Very personable. Super easy to converse with. The only negative was at the very end. I was transitioned to pain management for follow up care. The transition was not smooth at all and a little disappointing after receiving great care from Dr Elder and his staff, especially his nurse Mary. Overall I am extremely pleased with Dr Elder and would highly recommend him.

The office staff is professional, efficient, and friendly. Dr Elder is attentive and takes time to explain and answer questions. Dr. Elder shows that each patient is priority during the doctor visit. I couldn't have asked for a better doctor to explain my upcoming procedure and put me at ease.
