I found this place from an ad they run on the net. I wanted to buy the CoaguCheck XS PT test strips for the blood thinner I take. I have my own Coaugucheck machine and was trying to see if I could get my Doctor to write a Rx and run it thru my insurance/medigap/and Rx plan for the strips. I am paying around $130 for 24 strips on Ebay. This place wants $57 for 6 of them. I wanted to see if I could do the Ebay price one better with the Medicare system that I have paid into for 50 years and continue to pay for. ACS will submit and sell you the strips, IF YOU BUY THE COAGUCHEK MACHINE FROM THEM. A bit of a bait and switch advertising.I called Medicare and they WILL NOT cover the strips. I only asked about the strips. The testing machines are very expensive, but I was told, Medicare would pay for them and the strips IF you bought their machine. Lots of money gets put out and paid by the Insurer. Here I am trying to help the situation of big billing and it's futile. Back to Medicare to see what they say about the machines..I will update this review. The agent I talked to at ACS was very polite. But the fact remains, there is a caveat to the deal.. UPDATE...after continued effort and giving my personal Doctor grief..I have convinced Medicare to pay for the INR machine and the strips..It took 1/2 year to pull it off, but the results are I am not spending diddly, medicare pays for it all...but, what medicare pays the system for the materials and record gathering is obscene...FOLKS...we must get Health Care out of 'for PROFIT' in this country...in the end, it hurts us, not the providers..
