My mom just started seeing Dr. Kim about 6 months ago for A-Fib. He has been so hard to get ahold of and his office staff are terrible about answering the phone or returning calls. After my mom was in the ER, she was told to call his office the next day for a follow up. Dr. Kim's office staff tried to push her off to a hospital in Tulsa where she'd had a recent surgery even though the issue was not due to the surgery. She called that hospital and, yep, was told she needed to speak with her local cardiologist. She has been trying to get an appointment scheduled for almost a week now with no luck. This is ridiculous. If someone was directed to get into their cardiologist within 1 to 2 days after being seen in the ER for heart issues, then it should be able to be done. Joplin is big enough that we should be able to expect better from our healthcare. It would be nice if his office would at least return her calls to explain why they can't get her in. Instead, their voicemail rudely says to not leave multiple messages. No wonder people do that. They get desperate to simply hear back from the office. They need to do better.

Dr Kim was the on call cardiologist over the weekend when my mother was in the hospital with heart issues. She had just been moved out of ICU and Dr Kim was consulted due to continued abnormal symptoms. He acted like he had no time, he obviously had not reviewed her chart very well, he did not act like he wanted to answer questions, he was dismissive of her symptoms, when we were trying to get answers to her health issues, of which we never really got any solid answers. He was short with his answers and didn't really seem to care about our concerns. He was arrogant and rude. Not impressed!! I am a healthcare provider and would never treat my patients or their family like he treated us.

While Dr. Kim is a great surgeon, it doesn't give him the right to degrade me like he did today. I felt degraded & disrespected. I am sure the whole office heard it. He seemed to have lost the compassion for people. I mentioned that my Nitro is outdated, he has not prescribed a new one and I am not calling him to refill it, I don't need to be degraded again. I have asked him if I am safe to get on a transatlantic flight, instead of answering he degraded me some more. I don't know what to think of him anymore, it seemed like it was only a one-way conversation, him doing all the talking (degrading) and I still didn't get my questions answered. And for all that disappointing appointment I am paying the bill...definitely not OK!

Have not observed bedside manner like this in so very long but Dr. Kim is like no other. He fixed my heart physically but few can also fix it emotionally. He understands like no other Dr. I have ever met. And he treated a 55+ year old broad like me as if I had every reason to be afraid and took it one step further to comforting tone of voice, sincere expression of compassion and the patience to listen.

DR. Kim has real issues with people who are overweight. Each time I have saw him he has "fat shamed" me. This also was a conversation with my family that he had, telling them "he was nearly too big for the table" and "his arm would would barely go over his belly". There is a huge difference in a doctor counseling you once about your need to loose weight for health reasons, and badgering you, and your family by fat shaming. To me, it just really makes me wanna not go back, and stay home and eat more. He also shows very little interest in my treatment, and will barely talk more than 3 to 5 minutes about my health. It is very obvious, if you are overweight, he really just don't want to try with you. After all, I know I am fat, and that it is very bad for my health.
