Cardiology and Vascular Associates

Had a vein ablation and was very nervous about the procedure. Everyone in the office and staff were very friendly and professional. They took time to explain what I would experience and could expect in recovery. And that was crucial to my comfort -- I needed time to think of my questions. There was some discomfort during the procedure, but again, I had constant feedback and support. I'm glad I finally had this done, and am feeling much improved. Great staff and doctors here!

Words do not express how appreciative I am to Dr. Halabi. He is thorough, timely, he genuinely cares and he spends a great amount of time explaining and answering questions. His office and staff are exceptional. The office is nice, they are prompt and very efficient. I had a vein ablation recently and I can't believe how short my recovery time was. Nothing but great experiences. Thank you, Dr. Halabi! I just had my other leg done and it was equally another excellent experience. Do yourself a favor and get on board with the Dr. and their staff.

I will NOT be returning to CAVA for several reasons but for one BIG reason in particular described below. I came to the Bloomfield CAVA office and after meeting with Dr. Loree I scheduled an angiogram at her request. During multiple conversations with the nurse leading up to the date of the procedure I was repeatedly told that an intervention could only be done with blockage of 70% or greater (which is the standard rule in cardiology). On the day of the procedure, Dr. Halabi stopped after about 20-30 minutes for reasons that the left femoral artery was nearly 100% blocked and stated that I would likely need a Femoral Artery By-Pass in each leg(s). I was then referred to a vascular surgeon for a second opinion/evaluation, however their referral was to a doctor over an hour away so decided to find one on my own. In mid October, I met with a vascular surgeon in Rochester and a second angiogram was necessary as Dr. Halabi's CD disk was said to be 'inadequate' and the surgeon felt she could not make a surgical decision based from it. After this second procedure we met to discuss the results and while she agreed that there was total occlusion, she strongly disagreed with Dr. Halabi's opinion that I needed a femoral artery by-pass. She referred me to a different cardiologist but I declined believing it was important to remain with CAVA who originally did the procedure and had all my records. I returned to the CAVA office for a previously scheduled 3 month check up. I saw Antonio and he strongly maintained that I was not a good candidate for any kind of angioplasty due to (his words) the 'complexity of the blockage' and that a by-pass would be a better option. When I brought up the opinion of the first surgeon, Antonio said he would meet with Dr. Halabi to see if he would 'reconsider' but also suggested that I seek a second (now third) opinion from another vascular surgeon. This appointment was a total waste of time as I was never given any recommendations and/or referrals to other vascular surgeons nor was shown any images or documents that would support Dr. Halabi's decision. The whole appointment was less than 10 minutes. In early December, I met with a vascular surgeon in West Bloomfield for a second/third opinion. After reading copies of the notes from both doctors, it was also his opinion that I did not need a by-pass and stated his angioplasty approach would be to enter through the bottom of the blockage rather than the top. His goal was to insert 2 stents, one on each side. He questioned why Dr. Halabi didn't at least attempt to do this during the procedure and incidentally, it was the belief of the first surgeon that the blockage was just 'too complex' for Dr. Halabi to get involved with. In conclusion, after TWO surgeons giving their opinions that a by-pass was not needed, I had a (third) SUCCESSFUL angioplasty, complete with 2 stents this past week. This speaks volumes and is a testament to Dr. Halabi's competency and therefore I could NEVER offer an honest recommendation to CAVA. It would be nice to have a refund of the $2k spent for this procedure (as additional expenses were accrued having to see 2 more doctors and having 2 more procedures) but I know that won't ever occur. Dr. Halabi lacks the skill and knowledge to perform such a procedure of this 'complexity' (Antonio's word, not mine) or to be a valuable asset to CAVA. Currently, he is a liability!

I always feel that I am the most important person they are seeing on the day of my appointment. Michelle does her best to see that you are comfortable and that the test will be short. The results are sent to my primary physician as soon as possible.

Excellent care. Dr. Degregorio is my cardiologist as well as was my Dad's. Very caring and listens to his patients. Answers questions and explains things in a way others can understand. He and the office staff are very caring and compassionate. Highly recommended.
