Associates In Family Practice

***update***11/11/2025*** Dawn H, the Office Mgr is a true gem! I appreciate all of your help. Very nice first office visit; I had little to no wait to be seen. A little confusion on the heart monitor, but overall it was a good experience. Vanessa, was nice and of course Dr. Oska was excellent! ----------/----------/--------------previous My first and only experience thus far has been trying to schedule my follow-up visits with Dr. Oska and Dr. Mahjoub both of which provided excellent care during my in-patient stay at Corewell Health Beaumont. The telephone conversation with Barb was highly condescending and not very pleasant. I'm new to Michigan but not to healthcare and how a person should be treated. When providing my insurance type as "United Healthcare" she made the immediate assumption it was a 'community' or state plan(Medicaid) when I am actually gainfully employed. I advised that both providers requested to follow up with me within two weeks, she was very dismissive and said well I have to make sure everything checks out first?? I asked are you referring to my insurance and she said yes and other things. Most places are able to verify insurance on the spot within a few minutes, she told me she will have to call me back on Monday! I felt like I wasn't really welcome at this practice. Really disappointing too because these two providers, Dr. Oska and Dr. Mahjoub were just awesome to me during a very difficult time!

I think it's worth sharing my experience with Associates in Family Practice. I have been a patient at this office for over 5 years. The doctors/providers are personable, caring and beyond efficient. Dr. Oska is a locally renowned physician and expresses compassion to all his patients. He is personable and genuinely cares. Dr. Jim is also one of the most knowledgeable providers I've come across. Relatable and easy to talk to. Elizabeth Ryman is simply the BEST provider I have ever had. She is down to earth, warm, and endearing. She is the epitome of what a health care provider should be. The office manager Maryann has helped me on more than one occasion and always expresses care and concern for my needs. The assistant office manager Deanna is truly the most kind and helpful staff member I have had the pleasure of interacting with. And lastly the Lead Medical Assistant Alexis is extremely knowledgeable, efficient and supportive of any questions and concerns I've had. (It's hard to find a competent and reliable doctors office these days) Associates in Family Practice is salient and ensures quality care in comparison to most local offices. I could not recommend them enough!

This place is a joke. I continually was forced to be seen every 3 months or they wouldn't refill my medications! I only needed to be seen maybe every 6 months for actual issues. I explained my difficulties with mobility and they one front desk lady said "well, we don't work for free " meaning that they were mainly concerned with charging my insurance for a pay day. Go somewhere else. Fast.

I cant say enough good things about this Dr Office. Every Doctor is wonderful and patient. I never care who I see. The staff up front at nice and go out of their way to help you.

Dr. Oska Has always been the most trusted doctor I've had. He is knowledgeable and caring, that alone is hard to find in healthcare professionals. A few years back, I had to move to Northern Michigan, where I later found myself needing many specialist for several different health problems. I cannot put into words how much I miss the trust I had when seeing Dr. Oska. I have experienced some of the worst healthcare in my entire life living in Northern Michigan. If there were only more doctors like Dr. Oska the world would be a better place!
