Recently spent a few weeks visiting a family member who was gravely ill. This hospital is nice and has a lot of staff and technology to help patients of all kinds. I appreciate that it's a teaching hospital and it gives opportunities for growth to those learning in healthcare. I found most of the staff were fairly friendly. (I can't say all) I think if the hospital was to do mandatory training to the staff it should be in communication skills and sensitivity training. Many staff could take the time to be clear and helpful in their communication but chose not to. This is a reflection of the organization. I found while there were plenty of Drs on staff in the ward I visited it was too many to be clear for my family to understand. Multiple Drs attended to my family member each giving various different pieces of information but it floored me there wasn't 1 point of contact to decipher the information and advocate for clear concise helpful advice and next steps for the patient. One thing that bothered me was the dirt and filth in this place and lack of cleanliness... bathrooms were barely cleaned 1x a day. Hospital room where my family was had paper, plastic pieces and sometimes drops of blood and waste on the floor. As I was visiting several weeks I never once saw the floors cleaned. Sometimes nurses left paper and utensils used on my family member and never removed. I resented they treated them like a garbage can. The food in the hospital was terrible. I ate a few times and each time was sick to my stomach. And was surprised even the Drs and nurses told my family member to not eat the food it was terrible... seriously? I did feel the care received by my family member was fine although diagnosis was a bit late and confusing. I'm thankful parking was free at the hospital but there isn't enough parking for visitors as staff tend to take the prime spots during the day time. Overall it's a nice hospital probably not #1 in Michigan as the sign states but still nice. Special thanks goes to the nurses and Drs on the ICU floor 3.

My so arrived at the ER about 12:45pm it was busy and Ashley Allen CNA - Emergency stepped right in a cleaned a room with no hesitation and she was very nice and I asked her if she likes her job and she said yes with a smile she is definitely an asset to the corporation! He was admitted for 4days and the staff (great) I'm in healthcare and I never heard anyone complaining. I'm glad my son had a good experience even though he was in pain and this was his 4th surgery. Nurse Jahaal - 7 th floor RN great bedside manner and very attentive to my son. Nurse Maggie -7th floor RN all the nurses were great! Nurse RJ -7th floor RN great nurse very nice. Please acknowledge these employees it's not a nice world out here especially in healthcare. They are all an asset!

A day before Thanksgiving, I am trapped in Corewell Hospital on 13 mile and Woodward, Royal Oak, Mi in the cardiac division in room 8625 being treated for blood clots and told I'm suffering from heart ailments. This story began when I hurt my right knee. I had a partial knee repair by Dr. Sobh in approx 2023. He suggested a full knee replacement. In on 11/20 out on 11/21. Here I lie with blood clots, being mistreated by the RN and CNA staff because someone made a mistake during my surgery. They are giving the blood clot medicine in an IV. No one has done any kind of evaluation on my knee that I was admitted for on 11/20 to the Orthopedic ward room 9491. For some reason I was experiencing fainting spells. Instead of determining why I was feeling light headed. They bombarded me with pain pills. They told me I had to use the bedpan, but the plastic bedpan cracked. They wouldn't let me go to the restroom without help, but would hardly ever answer the call light. My choice, urinate all over the bed or walk to the restroom. I chose to walk which they would then complain about me doing. No one ever came to inspect my knee. What they did was ship me off to the cardiac unit to address issues with my heart that didn't exist before my surgery and treat me with blood clot medicine for ailments I shouldn't have. So if this is my last will and testament, I want others to know what kind of Thanksgiving I had 6 days later when I thought my knee replacement surgery would be a new beginning not a terrible ending. Room 8625 North Tower After my whole family contact the Head nurse on my floor today. I FINALLY got patient care that a patient should receive. Amen for that.

I recently had two procedures back to back and my surgeries went very well as hoped. I had a very positive experience that goes beyond the actual doctors sure hands. My pre- op and post operative experiences were enhanced by the caring and supportive, knowledgeable teams of nurses that supported my journey through these surgeries. One team was from urology and one was spinal fusion. These departments should be signaled out for their attention to detail, comforting demeanors, and professional competence that allowed my doctors to perform their best. I should have written down names but part of their process is to prepare and deliver medication so I can't feel or remember anything for the impending surgeries. Just a thank you for what you do day in and day out but for me was not taken for granted.

Amazing facilities with phenomenal staff. I've been here for the ER for myself. Then my wife had a baby here and we are now in the ER because our 2 week old has a fever. The nurses have been beyond amazing both during the after care of his birth and now with the ER. The nurses in the recovery were all extremely helpful and so good with the baby. Unfortunately this time, he has to have an IV, catheter, and a spinal tap. I know it sounds extreme but it's their standard protocol for babies with fevers at this age. The nurses, Jackie and Angela, were so good with our son throughout everything during triage. Nurse Paige in the peds unit was above and beyond. It's just amazing how many caring and skilled staff this place has.
