I have found Dr. Schafer to be kind, thoughtful and thorough. I like him alot!!

Dr. Schafer was unwilling to spend time with us or answer our questions. He was condescending and did not seem remotely interested in our concerns. I would not recommend him to anyone who wants to feel heard or comfortable with their medical care.

I went into this appointment determined to give this Dr a chance despite his rudeness last year when I saw him in the ER. After waiting 40 minutes in the waiting room (30 past my appt time) then another 10+ in the room, he came in totally clueless about why I was there. He didn't know even the most important details about my medical history including the heart monitor I had from that office. He also complained about my condition list as if I had any control over it. I told him twice that there are inaccuracies but I don't know how to fix them. He cut me off several times when I was answering his questions. He barely did an exam. I will be finding a new cardiologist somewhere seperate from Sparrow and UofM.

I switched to Dr Fernandez. I have to have a Dr. that communicates with me about my obvious health conditions. Maybe he's super busy. IMO it feels like he doesn't care. When your test results have concerning abnormalities I feel he should call and let me know.

Deeply committed and caring, Dr. Shafer was instrumental in saving my life. He continued to visit and inquire about me after I was no longer his patient. I will be forever grateful not only for his skill but for his kindness and concern for me and my family.
