Update - I have learned that this lack of testing blood sugar level is an insurance complication. It seems that my primary care provider would have to order this test. This seems ridiculous to me, but we have to work within the system. My cardiologist recently retired, so I have only seen Dr Nino twice. I like the way he takes time to listen and respond, but I have one concern. Last week at my 6-month check up, I mentioned my thirst and dry mouth. I stated that my last two lab tests had indicated borderline high blood sugar, so I wondered whether this needed to be checked again. Dr. Nino responded that he would leave this to my primary care doctor. I didn't know how to respond to that at the time, but I wish someone would explain the compartmentalization of my health care. Wouldn't my cardiologist want to know if my blood sugar is high? Why is that of concern only to my primary care doctor?
I recognize Dr Nino's strengths and commitment to appropriate tests for accurate diagnostic assessments. I sincerely thank him for the added "burden" of peer reviews with Humana's demands for justification of certain tests. My humbled appreciation. Sandi Oates
Dr. Nino met with me for the first time, Wednesday, July 7th, 2021. He was Most casual and humble. He articulated and delineated the expectations that might be relevant to my situation. He was most sincere and executed what he thought would be necessary to ascertain what might be the problem, if any. I Respected how he conducted himself and made himself available as we modulate the diagnosis that must or might be advanced. Later in the months, I will need to return to further discover what's Really taking place with my Body. Respectfully Submitted, Frank Raines, III
Saw Dr. Nino for pre surgery clearance. He was very thorough with explaining the EKG small abnormalities. Didn't feel rushed at all. Filled out the paperwork and sent it that day.
