U of M has been slipping up lately. I have a heart condition due to chemo and radiation therapy when I was younger. I was on oral birth control pills while under Dr. Leja's Care and we would review my prescriptions each visit so she should've been aware of that. Turns out if you have a heart condition and you're also on pills with estrogen you're at a risk for clotting and strokes. Which is exactly what happened, TWICE! My oncologist at the time, Dr. Baker, even tried to get in contact with her because he didn't like the fact that I was on the birth control with my conditions. Dr. Leja did jack about it, received no reprimanding, and U of M quickly tried to sweep their mistake under the rug by getting me on a different kind of birth control while I was in the ICU for my SECOND stroke.
