Wen Shih-Te MD

I was a patient of Dr. Wen's for many years. I felt comfortable with him. During that time my BP steadily rose, requiring me to take more meds and then higher doses. It was always borderline high. Last August it was really high, and I felt miserable. I called his office hoping to get in to see him, but he had the morning off. His staff said they would get a message to him. I didn't hear back until midafternoon. I was told to increase a dose of one med to the dose I was already taking! I asked if I should go to the hospital if I couldn't be seen at his office. They said they would get back to me soon. I finally heard back late in the afternoon that he wanted me to take a new medicine. No scheduled appointment to see him! The following day I had an appointment with my primary Dr. who took one look at me and sent me to Beth Israel in Boston. I was there for 5 days due to a hypertensive crisis. They determined the root cause of my BP and reduced the meds I was taking by half. Dr. Wen never tried to find out why my BP was high - it was easier to prescribe another pill (I was taking 7 meds and my BP was still high). I asked for a copy of my history, as I was changing doctors immediately. The symptoms I had complained about for years, weren't even part of my file! Very disappointed in the quality of care I received. He never took the time to piece any of the clues together. I accepted mediocrity out of ignorance, assuming "it's part of the aging process". I write this so others don't have to go through what I did.

I had a major heart attack 1/25/25 I got a referral from a friend for Dr Wen. I have called his office 7 times with no return call back. My doctors office also called his office with no return call. This is extremely disheartening, as he got great reviews from my friend. It's too bad his staff is not doing their job.

If I could rate, Dr. Wen as a zero I would. It's unfortunate that I have to give him one star. My partner was admitted to Anna Jacques Hospital on Saturday, Dec. 20, 2025. He had flu-like symptoms with low oxygen levels. He remained on oxygen support for the next four days. The staff could not find a diagnosis for his respiratory distress. They did not communicate a prognosis. They took more and more blood samples. Yesterday, they did cardiac imaging. Again, no one told him why they started looking at his heart function. Dr. Wen came in during that process. A kitchen staff worker came to delivery my partner's breakfast. Dr. Wen said to the kitchen staff "He can't eat that, he had a heart attack!" Talking OVER a patient is a SUBPAR way of communication. My partner had NO heart attack symptoms and was SHOCKED to hear this!! The care at Anna Jacques Hospital was terrible. But Dr. Wen was disgraceful in how he 1) violated HIPPA by sharing confidential information with a kitchen staff member 2) did not communicate once with my partner. Then he proceeds to say to a nurse "you are my witness! He doesn't want care." That wasn't true, he wanted COMMUNICATION as every patient deserves. I will be taking action to file a formal complaint.
