Patient
I took my mom to see Dr. Shankar due to some heart-related concerns, and unfortunately, our experience was very negative. Dr. Shankar came across as unprofessional, and at times, made us feel uncomfortable -- even discriminatory. She looked my mom and me up and down and asked, "How long have you been in this country?" This question was both irrelevant and inappropriate in a medical setting and made us feel judged and unwelcome. After my mom's lab tests, Dr. Shankar insisted we return for another in-person appointment to review the results, even though there were no urgent concerns. We declined, as we had no interest in going back after the uncomfortable first visit. We instead reviewed the results with my mom's primary care physician, who reassured us everything was fine and didn't understand why a follow-up was necessary. Based on our experience, I would not recommend Dr. Shankar.
