I am a terrible medical patient. I am quite fearful, and ask a lot of questions. Dr Collins takes a lot of time with me and explains things well. Robin Childress, her PA is great too. She heard something abnormal and sent me immediately for an ultrasound. Very caring, and very thorough. I'm quite happy with the care I get there.

Took my mom to see Dr. Collins yesterday and could not have been happier with the appointment. Dr. Collins is kind, compassionate and down to earth, which immediately put my mom (and me) at ease. She was also extremely thorough and took extra time to ask (and be asked( questions. Over and above. So appreciated, especially when there is an elderly person involved. Many thanks!

Details in chart notes of this physician and her secretary were inaccurate. I have irritable bowel disease, immune compromise, asthma, labile hypertension and sensitivities to many genetic meds. This physician terminated my care abruptly on 1/30/23 via a landline message, saying she would find a replacement general cardiologist for me as I had portaled her too much. (I did not portal her between 1/27/23 and 1/30/23.) She never did get back. I reported this behavior to my IM practitioners and Lahey Patient advocate. I have had wonderful care from Lahey/Bi Cardiology in the past ( Dr Mintz, Dr Levin and Dr Silver). I have been a patient of Lahey since the 1970s. I had been referred to Dr Collins in 1/22 because I had a family history of aortic aneurysm and got bad diarrhea from two hypertensive meds. I had an echo cardiogram in 11/22. I was told that I wasn't taking prescribed meds ( including LASIK which she had just prescribed, and was giving me watery explosive diarrhea ) and was just reading package inserts. I was told not to read package inserts. I was prescribed Losartan on 1/27/23. and told to take it if my am and pm systolic bp was over 145. I was told to elevate legs during the day and continue on my low sodium, not over 1400 kcal diet and to try to change my sleep cycle. I was conscientiously working on the above when I received her landline call. Her sudden interruption of care was not the problem; though that had never happened to me before at the Lahey. Her leaving me with a complex medical and behavioral prescriptive care plan and not finding me another cardiologist when she said she would ...was really problematic. I have been a patient of the Lahey clinic since the 1970s and had never been treated like this before. My other physicians are among the best at the Lahey. I am a published scientist and hold several allied health certifications. It took two weeks for the patient advocate to get back to me through the Lahey text message system. In the meantime a kind cardiology nurse ( Kristen) reached out to me through the portal system; apologized for what was happening and found an appointment for me in August 2023 with an excellent physician's assistant. She said there was no general cardiologist available. IM has agreed to deal with my cardiac issues until another general cardiologist can be found. I realize that this is a time when medical professionals are under considerable pressure. I realize that sometimes physicians need to transfer care. I have an upper and lower gi coming up on 4/26/23. I have an excellent GI Md and internal medicine support. I need the support of a good general cardiologist. I cannot recommend Dr Collins because of the above described behavior. I am not a difficult patient ...I just want the best care and respect from all my physicians. Her behavior was inexcusable.

What Dr. shouts at you bc you want to speak directly to her as her PA made a minor issue sound like a major issue at an appointment and I had questions? Yep! She insulted me on so many levels bf she allowed me to explain. She reluctantly apologized. I hope she is reprimanded for her unprofessional behavior. She needs help...I hope she gets the help she needs.
