Prepare to spend at least ten hours in the emergency room waiting for test results. Nurse was very rude and had an attitude god forbid if you ask for updates everything is we don't know !! What gives??? this hospital was one of the best
Exceptionally good staff, nurses, custodial, support, and security. Everyone was very helpful and a delight to talk with. The facility is extensive, so wear your walking shoes. Like any hospital, the food is terrible, but DoorDash deliveries are a familiar sight. Tons of restaurants and amenities nearby. Easy walking distance to Beacon Hill, Boston Commons, Public Gardens, and many wonderful streets to explore. Handy for outside patient visiting hours.
They might be slow with accurate test results, but they're great at what they do. Very professional folks all around.
In Feb '24, I was diagnosed with AFIB. Between Feb and May, I experienced 6 episodes and ended up having an ablation in Manchester NH. That ablation was not as successful as my doctor and I had hoped for. After the May ablation, I had an additional 10 new episodes and decided to get a second opinion at Mass General Hospital. I learned of the Corrigan and Minehan Heart Center at MGH Brigham. After speaking with someone there, I was referred to Dr. William Hucker and met with him on Jan 28, '25. His professionalism, knowledge, thoroughness and ability to communicate at a patient level blew me away. I had sent him all of my previous medical records and he was fully aware of what was going on and what had been done up to that point. He explained the new procedure MGH is using, the benefits, the recovery time, etc. He gave me so much confidence in my decision to come to MGH. After our discussion, we determined I was a candidate for a second, "touch up" ablation. My experience got even better. I received a call from his office the next day saying there was a cancelation and an opening 3 days later. They made it clear to me it was not an emergency for me to get it done that quickly but if I was available, I could have that slot. Their office coordinated all the pre-procedure testing for me and I was able to have the ablation on Jan 31. I met with Dr. Hucker after the procedure, he explained everything he found and what he did to address my AFIB. He discussed an area that he felt "reconnected. He discussed additional areas that needed ablating. He mentioned after he had addressed those areas, he "revved" me up and identified an additional area needing ablating. I was discharged later that day. My recovery was been wonderful. Nearly no bruising or discomfort at all. Most important, it's been 11 weeks since my last episode, the longest I have gone without AFIB in 14 months. I feel so relieved. I can't end this review with mentioning the MGH staff who I interacted with throughout the process. From receptionists, to all the nurses in pre-testing, nurses and doctors on Dr. Hucker's team during and post procedure and of course Dr. Hucker, thank you so much for everything. I am so grateful for everyone and everything you've done for me.
