I like Dr Huzella even though she had to refer me to another doctor. The menu for trying to actually speak to someone is one of the absolute worst I've ever encountered. When you are forced to make a choice that isn't relevant to what you need because there are absolutely no choices for what you need you are then transferred to a voice mail. While the staff is actually very nice when you do get to interact with them I'm thrilled I don't have to deal with Dr. Huzella's office again. I called the doctor I was referred to and got a real person on the line immediately. What a concept.

My 89-year-old mother is a patient. I am the one who drives her to her appointments. My mom likes Dr. Huzella and has said that she is a "smart lady" and that she trusts her. Why the negative review, then? The utterly abysmal, no-good, terrible, awful, inconceivably disrespectful office staff. I've been annoyed with their time management practices for years. They will take over an hour for a simple pressure check, and most of that time is spent waiting to check in or out. Longer appointments are glacial, and I usually end up waiting in the car no matter how many errands I've run while she's in her appointment. But today really takes the cake. Today's appointment had already been changed by them previously without explanation. When I brought my mom in for the rescheduled appointment, Dr. Huzella wasn't even there! She was at a conference, apparently. The office staff hadn't bothered notifying us and rescheduling again. So, my almost-90-year-old mother, who uses a walker and is on oxygen at home, had to painstakingly make her way out of the house, down too many steps, and into the car. I had to carry her stuff, fold and put her walker into the car, reverse all that at the office, then rinse and repeat to go home. All for nothing. This is a big effort for my mom. On days when she has a medical appointment, usually she can't do anything else other than ADLs. I am angry that these people casually stole this time from my mom and from me. So avoidable by anyone who cares to bother doing their job. The office staff has high turnover and one common excuse for long wait times is that they are training people. I don't know if that's the excuse for today, but frankly I don't care anymore. Both I and my mother feel disrespected by this experience. She was previously very tolerant of the wait times, if frustrated. But most likely she will stop being a patient now. Dr. Huzella is not blameless in this. This has been an ongoing problem for years and has been mentioned to her on multiple occasions. At some point, you need to do whatever it takes to make sure your office is run properly. This has never happened at any other medical appointment I've taken her to, nor to myself or anyone I know. This is not the norm. This is not ok. Perhaps she needs to pay staff more or treat them better so there will be less turnover. Perhaps she needs to personally interview people to weed out the nincompoops. Whatever the case is, she needs to fix her office staff to avoid losing more patients. It doesn't matter how good of a doctor she is when the staff is incapable of or unwilling to run her office properly.

I have to say Dr. Huzella is amazing! She's an extremely talented doctor but an even better woman. She's thoughtful and caring and you can tell that she genuinely cares for her patients and is willing to spend as much time as necessary to explain your care in ways you'll understand. I've had the privilege of being one of her patients for a few years and I feel so grateful to have found her! Not only does she take care of my eye's but is just as concerned about my many other medical issues I have as well. You can see from the minute she walks in with that great big warm smile you're In great hands! I absolutely recommend Dr. Huzella to any and all patients looking for not only great medical care but someone who goes over and above her call as an Opthamoligist! Make your appointment and see for yourself that she is a great fit for all of your eye's needs. Thank you
