In a world where we can oftentimes feel stressed, uncertain, anxious, fearful, and overwhelmed, we look for positivity, goodness, and comforting experiences to put us at ease. On Thursday October 2, 2025 my daughter and her husband walked through the 5th floor doors at UMMS in Easton filled with a mix of excitement, hope, happiness, anxiousness, and uncertainty as they prepared for the arrival of their first child. Also in tow was a very engaged, excited, and concerned soon-to-be grandmother who would be nothing less than supportive and present throughout this momentous event. As day #1, #2, and #3 came and went with the anticipation of welcoming a newborn baby, we maintained hope and positivity, but naturally with a sense of concern and worry. As day #4 appeared on the dry erase board in room 571, we had no doubt that excellence would shine through every member who was listed as the care team - and that put our worry at ease. The team of professionals who had been impacting our experience for 3 days, and who were just as excited about welcoming a baby into our lives were doing so in ways that make our world a better place. No matter what obstacle our daughter faced on day #4, we were confident that the staff members on the 5th floor were more than capable of handling her care. We felt the compassion and support. We watched the determination, dedication, and skill. We experienced an overwhelming sense of commitment, passion and pride. With every single encounter that led to the birth of our newest family member, we felt an immense level of comfort, compassion, advocacy, and positivity. During our 6 days in the hospital, our positive thoughts and energy was multiplied in incredible ways. Our worries were diminished, our fears were calmed, and our hope and happiness was celebrated with a team of professionals who make our world a better place everyday. For every smile, every genuine gesture, every positive attitude, every kind action, and every example of excellence - we thank you UMMS Easton Birthing Center team & beyond. As the owners of a small business (Emily's Produce in Cambridge, MD), we are very aware of the impact of superior customer service. We are mindful of how we can leave a lasting impression on our community. We recognize how valuable training, knowledge, understanding, compassion, and commitment contributes to excellence. We realize that the saying "do what you love, and love what you do" has a significant meaning - especially when demonstrated. Whether the UMMS staff was delivering the dinner tray, sanitizing the bed rails, taking the blood pressure, cleaning the floors, administering the medicine, unlocking the door, greeting the visitors, cheering on and coaching the patient, calming the nerves, instilling the wisdom, demonstrating the expertise, performing the procedure, or simply going "above and beyond" ... we want you to know that you were noticed and appreciated!! We hope that you realize your impact and importance in making our world a better place - especially during this monumental event for our family. We're thankful for all that you did to contribute to a happy and healthy mom & baby! Thank you! K. Jackson (Proud grandmother) (Grateful Mother) Cambridge, MD

Labor and deliveries only saving grace was a couple of their nurses. We recently came to this hospital to be induced because I had preeclampsia with my pregnancy. The experience started off well, my active laboring went as smooth as it could've. But postpartum it was almost like most of the nurses who "took care of" me lost interest in helping me. I missed out on a lot of my newborns' firsts that could've been prevented if the nurses had listened to me. I didn't get to do golden hour with either of my babies because I couldn't stop shaking after the birth and was pretty out of it from the magnesium drip. Whatever, that couldn't be helped. But I wanted to be there for their first baths and both babies got baths without me or my husband there. I communicated that I wanted at least my husband to be there, and neither of us got to. The daytime nurses during active labor and postpartum we had were great. The nighttime nurses postpartum (specifically Sonia) didn't have good bedside manner, she made herself sound far too busy to provide good care, any other nurse who came in during the night/when my husband was sleeping were very loud and almost seemed irritated that he got to sleep (I told him to get some sleep). I also noticed a lot of nurses on their phones. Not all of them, but quite a few. Nurse Jaimie, Jacqueline, and Kristy (?) were all amazing. Overall it was an incredibly frustrating experience. There was very few things we enjoyed and this facility could use some employee training.

I want to thank the nurses, doctors, meal service, cleaning services, case management at the UMSMS in Easton, MD. I was admitted to the 3rd floor for a PE. I did not think this was serious but it was actually life threatening. The staff made me feel comfortable and Dr DeShields was very good at explaining the situation in "Lehman's" terms. Nurses; Cathy, Kay, Susan, Rita all excellent and very friendly. Thank you for the great service and getting my life back on track.

I had major surgery in August at this hospital with an overnight stay. The level of caring and compassion from the hospital staff was amazing. The nurses (Connie, Joanne, Michelle), technicians (Jai and Carmen), anesthesiologists (Billy), and doctors (Cajina and Cespedes) did such a great job in both my pre-op, surgery, and post-op care.

The hospital staff, nursing and radiology, was excellent. I would give them 5 stars. The physicians, I would give them 2 stars. I felt like my health concerns and symptoms were not taken seriously because I am overweight. I find this behavior to be predjudicial and leads to missed diagnosis. Which was the case.
