Overton Brooks VA Medical Center

Was referred to the community for care. The community care team contacted me at the last minute saying the civilian dr needed my most recent mri. My most recent mri was done at the Va in Florida. Due to the incompetence of the community care team. The civilian dr cancelled my referral. Veterans deserve better care. We should get better care than civilian hospitals provide.

I do not care any negative reviews here. You need to understand their jobs (VA staffs) are stressful too.Please! Stop complaining. I got out the Army in 2022 with left knee injury and PTSD during the time i served in the Army, and I seeked for help in VA Temple Texas, They rejected and refused me twice even though Army gave me Tricare for one year. I was nearly total lost of everything in my life at that time. Then years later i moved to North West Louisiana. Alots of Vets told me that i need to go to Overton Brooks VA, they will help you. And Yes. This VA hospital is the best of the best to me. Doctors, Staffs, and Nurses took a good care of me and other vets.It has been three years that i am still struggling and suffering with Panic Attacks (PTSD), I finally got helped here. I am so grateful to Ms.Angela, Dr.Meek, Ms. Magraret, Kayla, Nesha, Celista, Ms. Bernida, Ms.Lenida, Ms.Pam, Ms. Felicia, Ms.Tammy, Ashley, Rachel, Ms.Shamal, Wendy and others. They might not help you with your problems unless you are close to the end, geriatric or have something physically missing from your body. They might start pulling back care the moment they find out that you self-medicate or that you will not take their medications or even stop one of their meds for a week. I was completely honest with them and this is exactly what they did in my situation. If you want care you will have to lie....sad but true. To fill you in more I had a social worker called on me because I stopped taking a prescription of vitamin D3 that the doctor prescribed me the very first day I saw her....it was very random but I said sure Ill take it. When my heart starts going crazy I stop taking and doing everything until it stops....told her that and she didn't care....got home from the appointment from telling her that and the social worker calls me. The social worker didn't even know what the medication was until I told her. All that for D3. After all that there was blood work that was not done and then after heart tests came back clear there was a complete dismissal of anything to do with what I have been dealing with since 2009. They just didn't care and why I have been hesitant for a long time about going back....I was right though....should have never went back to the place. There was more but this is getting long. If you are in this area and read this with similarities in issues with your heart and are younger.....just go to Texarkana. It's not a hospital up there but maybe there are some people up there who care. Good luck.

I have called the Community Referral Team at Overton Brooks VA Hospital at least ten times, each time leaving my contact information and requesting a return call. Not once have I received a call back. This complete lack of communication and follow-through is unacceptable. Absolutely useless!

I live in Houston, Texas. Was in shreveport working and my medicine fell in the toilet. Went down there to get more. Was checked in and prescription filed in less than 30 minutes. Then i had an incident while workin. Went back up to the ER and was in and out in an hour. Nice friendly tentative staff. Don't want to have to go back. But if i do, i know I'll be taken care.
