Patient
My husband and I are very disappointed with the Pediatric Cardiology department at UK. We were referred by Baptist Health and our pediatrician to confirm that everything was fine with my preemie's heart. We were referred to have an echo (ultrasound on the heart) completed. Our first appointment, we arrived and a nurse completed an ekg and some basic vitals. Then we were walked to an exam room. We waited in the exam room for 2 hours before seeing Dr. Mohan. When he did come in we were told that a miscommunication had occurred and we weren't on the schedule for an echo. We would need to come back for an echo. He apologized and listened to my babies heart with anticipation that nothing sounded abnormal and that this was all just precautionary. We set up another appointment for a few weeks later. Upon arrival, the same friendly nurse completed an ekg and did some more vitals on our baby. We then were walked to another exam room and told that we would be taken to do the echo shortly. We waited an hour until Dr. Mohan came in confused on why we hadn't been taken for an echo. He apologized and left to grab someone for the echo. Within a few minutes someone else came to take us to do an echo. The echo took quite awhile and we were required to keep our baby calm during it. We then were returned to our exam room and waited for the echo to be read by Dr. Mohan. After a total of 3 hours for the entire process, he came in for a few minutes to tell us that our baby is fine. We would recommend that you see a different doctor and if possible a different practice that has better communication skills. We would understand if it happened once to us, but twice is unreasonable and disrespectful. If you need to go to UK, plan on spending your whole day there.
