Dr Southard did surgery on my abdominal aorta aneurism and does followup annually . He was professional in discussing the surgery procedures. Very competent. Annual followup discussed very well and answers all questions. Am pleased.

I've seen Dr. Southard twice (once a year) after moving to Iowa (had my left carotid neck artery cleaned out in phx) to make sure all is still ok. I find him very impersonal/poor bedside manner. He's mildly concerned about my subclavical artery being blocked, but won't scan until I have symptoms (I was 90% blocked on my neck and asymptomatic). With my history seems being proactive makes sense and provide at minimal a baseline.

A couple yrs ago I had a dvt so bad I ended up in the icu and dr.southward saved my life with performing surgery. Then recently I had to go back n due to some veins being "damaged " and once again this doc fixed me up. Blood clots can be lethal and I honestly believe he is the only reason I am still alive from my first episode of blood clots. During my recent visit my anxiety was at its worst and him and his team of nurses talked to me and laughed with me and did everything they could to make sure I was ok. They save lives daily and this team is the best of the best and dsm is lucky to have them! Thank u and ur team for all u do!

I was seen by Dr Southard in Pella. I found his overall demeanor and that of his nurse to be a bit cold and somewhat disinterested in me as a patient. I am a little disappointed and hesitant to continue with him to treat the veins in my legs.
