Surgical skills excellent. People skills none. We had a modified code . Paperwork signed and motorized. After surgery icu still had full code. Dr Patel called me at 10:00 at night and belittled me, called me stupid and I just wanted to kill my husband , that I didnt know what I was talking about. I'm a retired nurse worked in cardiac icu and I also was a circulating nurse in the OR. I knew what I was talking about. He argued with me for almost an hour. The icu nurse found the paper work and read it to him and he called me back. He said if he would have known he would not have done the surgery. So he was willing to let my husband die because he didn't agree with the code status. It was all about the money, we have an HMO if the patient dies within a certain amount of time he doesn't get paid. I will never recommend him to any one and not even my dog. He is a total jerk. A lot of other things as well but I don't have room. A formal complaint made to medical board , hospital Board and CMS
