UnityPoint Health - Marshalltown Hospital

I found myself here suddenly for an extended stay while they worked to repair my fractured plato tibia the worst of the worst knee injury requiring 2 surgeries in as many weeks. I want to say I was blessed to have this hospital take care of me. Everyone worked for me to keep me safe and comfortable. From the knee surgeon down to the tech who helped me get to the bathroom. Eveyone stepped in when I needed and gave me excellent service. In 12 weeks when I can walk again I hope to return and thank them in person.

The ER doctors in this organization perform at unacceptable levels, ignoring informed consent laws, and patient protections. In my view, Flinkman elected to make a decision based on self-dealing, rather than acting in the best interest of the patient. Anugu is a rubber stamp for Flinkman. It's no wonder Unity Point has twice as many 1 star ratings in their google reviews, than all the other ratings (2-5) combined. I do give them great credit for one thing: Mediocrity. When you call the patient advocate, all you get is run-around. Sure, you can file a complaint, but they won't provide you with a copy of what has been entered into the complaint - where's the accountability in that? Given that you already can't trust unity point, how are you going to trust the patient advocate when they hide the report? In simple terms: you can't.

I had bloodwork done there and it worked out well. The staff were kind and helpful. They faxed a copy to my primary care physician at OSF Morton family medicine and MRI/CAT SCAN/ X ray technicians Since my diagnosis of grade 3 Oligodendroglioma I've had to do tests and it's great that the hospital staff is so accommodating! This place is a joke. Some nurses definitely don't cate about the patients. Staff looks at you like you're an idiot when you ask them for help. They just simply say no with no explanation at all as to why something can't be done. They make you wait and wait and no one checks on you for 1-2 hrs and when you ask for an update or help they pretend to send help and no one ever comes. This hospital honestly sucks.

I was in excruciating pain in my lower back. Took 2 hours to get into a room. When it came to being discharged, I had a very rude and inconsiderate nurse by the name Suzie. She put the finger monitor on my finger very roughly that the hinge was hurting the tip. I had to adjust it myself. Next came time to get my temperature. She roughly shoved it in my ear and stated that it has to go in that far for the machine to read it. She then stated that next time I could go elsewhere for care! This person should NOT be taking care of patients!! I hope this hospital does something about this situation!!! I'd hate to have her as a nurse under a cardiac situation!!!
