Rajesh Mallela, MD, joined Community Howard Regional Health in 2013. He is board certified in internal medicine, cardiology, echocardiography and nuclear medicine. Additionally, Dr. Mallela is certified as a registered physician in vascular interpretation. Dr. Mallela received his medical degree from Mysore Medical College, India. He did his internal medicine residency at Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science, North Chicago, Illinois, and served as a hospitalist at Ball Memorial Hospital. He was chief fellow in cardiology at Tulane University, New Orleans, and did an interventional cardiology and peripheral vascular fellowship at Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh.

Dr. came into the room and talked to the nurses/asked them questions instead of me. He told me to lose weight by exercising 30 minutes a day which would, in his words, make my heart beat slower. I've been having tachycardia since I was a teenager when I exercised regularly and weighed what I'm guessing he would consider an "acceptable weight" then. My heart issues did NOT start after I became an adult and gained weight. I was very taken aback by this dismissal since I've had such great doctors at this hospital in other specialties. My MyChart file also indicates a history of an eating disorder. If he had actually looked at my file, he would have seen this. Good rule of thumb is to NOT discuss weight with someone who has recovered from an eating disorder btw.. I will be searching for another doctor next time. Very disappointing.
