Dr. Ahmad was referred to me by Drs. Evans & Kinn who are all part of the Bluhm Cardiovascular Institute. Along with my heart issues I have Kidney Cancer. I had a nephrectomy in 2007 so I have one lone kidney. I needed a Angiogram but the doctors were concerned that the dye used in the procedure would further damage my kidney. So they did the Intervention procedure on my LAD artery in two parts. Dr. Kinn did the 1st Angiogram as a diagnostic to determine where the blockages were located with minimal use of the dye. Two weeks later Dr. Ahmad did the Angioplasty and inserted the stents. Dr. Ahmad consulted with my Nephrologist Dr. Kropp about pre & post hydration to help flush out any dye. Dr. Ahmad used a unique strategy to perform the Angioplasty on me. He used Dr. Kinn's angiogram as a road map to determine where the plaque deposits started then used the balloons to break it up and then injected very little dye to determine length of the stent he would insert. After taking care of that blockage he assessed there was another blockage further down the same artery & repeated the procedure. What was remarkable was that he used just 20 milliliters of dye. Very minimal & at no risk to my kidney. Pre & post labs of my Creatinine showed a no increase & in fact it went down one hundredth point! I'm so grateful for all the doctors for testing my case with special care to mend my heart & protect my kidney!
