My complaint is regarding the poor customer service at the front desk at 10 Martin Street. I had an appointment scheduled on oct 30th for a test. This was made after i saw my doctor and was given a sheet with the date on it. I received 2 reminder emails and one to confirm i was coming. I got there early, checked in and the receptionist even directed me to the seats by testing . She then called me back to tell me I made a mistake and I am suppose to be at elmhurst hospital maybe if I hurry I could go there and maybe they could see me!! It was already the appointment time. She told me I could reschedule for sometime in january!! I told her this was not my fault and about the emails which then she looked at computer and acknowledged . She was totally expressionless and said well I can fax the order to the hospital but you will have to wait an hour for them to get it and then you can go there and maybe they can fit you in. No offer to call elmhurst, no offer to call edwards heart hospital, no offer to call a person in charge. She said she could only offer me the january appointment. I had been in a fib for last 3 days and decided to handle myself. Took the order went to the hospital. I explained my situation to the outpatient registration person named Georgia. She was more than willing to help and notified the nurse manager of cardiac testing TINA. When I told her what had happened she made all the arrangements and within30minutes I was having the test. The tech Alex preformed the test and I was done. Everyone was courteous and handled the problem professionally.. I didn't have to scream or yell at anyone to get this done. Why does a patient have to wait months to get a test when they can utilize the outpatient services at the hospital? Is this in the best interest of the patient? Could someone please look into the training of the 6 or so receptionists at midwest? They espescially need to be taught about customer service!
