I want to start by saying that Dr. Ahmed Okba and his team are absolutely phenomenal. They guided us through some of the hardest parts of our medical care with compassion, patience, and professionalism. They deserve all the recognition in the world for how wonderful they are.
That said, the administration and billing practices at the Medical Arts Center in Moline are another story entirely. I had a small outstanding balance of around $30, which I did not even realize at the time due to moving and other life changes. Instead of communicating clearly or offering options, they immediately sent the account to collections. When I later called for services , they acknowledged that the balance was paid, yet they refused to give any path forward.
The most frustrating part is that it feels like there is no accountability. The staff member on the phone made it sound as though there was no one above them I could speak to -- no manager, no billing supervisor, no patient advocate. Just a wall of "this is how it is." That level of dismissiveness over something so small is unacceptable and incredibly disheartening, especially when patients are trying to manage real medical needs.
I also want to add: I am not someone who avoids my responsibilities. I do my best to take care of bills and obligations, and I genuinely did not realize this balance was outstanding. And in the past year have stepped up to take care of my responsibilities which in the past I have not been responsible. So I understand to a degree but there has to be another person to talk to them just cutting someone off from an entire group of doctors. If there is anyone in administration who reads this, I would truly appreciate it if you could reach out to me. Please help me understand what I did wrong so that I don't repeat it in the future. I don't want marks like this on my record, and I would much rather resolve things fairly than be shut out of care.
In short: Dr. Ahmed Okba and his medical team deserve 5 stars, but the Medical Arts Center administration deserves 0 for how poorly they treat patients over something so minor.

My daughter has a skin condition on her scalp that is not healing. We received a referral for this clinic. The clinic refused to see us due to insurance issues. Paisley has primary insurance through BCBS of Illinois. Her secondary is through Illinois.
They refused to see her due to her secondary insurance. Regardless of the primary insurance, and the fact that I offered to pay cash to be seen.
The receptionist at the office is apparently the end all be all of the whole corporation, as she does not have a supervisor, or manager above her.
At some point our country has to change, medical facilities should not be able to discriminate against individuals due to the type of insurance they carry. Furthermore, it seems like bad business policy to refuse a customer who is willing to pay cash for a visit.

I was taking treatment from Dr Karla Vankeulen and Anne Noe for PCOS. The doctors were fine, but my experience with their billing department has been nothing short of heartbreaking. I went to the hospital in 2023, trusting I was in good hands, only to be left dealing with a financial nightmare that wasn't my fault.
They didn't file my insurance claims(5 claims) on time, so my insurance had to reject it. Now, they've sent the bill to collections, damaging my credit over something I should never have been responsible for. My insurance(Cigna) clearly told us that the charges are not mine to pay and that sending it to collections was completely wrong. I have written document from Cigna stating they are in Contract with provider and contract does not allow them to bill patients after the time limit or failed to provide proof of timely submission.
What's worse is that on a 3 way call, someone from the billing department lied and claimed they were out-of-network even though they absolutely are in-network with Cigna. Denise from billing was incredibly rude and disrespectful to me, my husband and the insurance agent. She lied to all of us without hesitation.
They cancelled my care over this.
This whole situation has caused so much stress and anxiety. I feel betrayed, and I wouldn't wish this experience on anyone. Please think twice before trusting this hospital with your care or your finances.

I saw Tina Cathelynn in OB-GYN from 2022-24, and she is decent as a provider. I decided to leave their practice after my pharmacy (Hyvee) contacted them twice over the course of a week, with no response, requesting they authorize a refill of my (very basic) generic hormonal birth control.
So, I had to call the office myself simply to get them to authorize the refill, which shouldn't be that difficult. It is also quite ridiculous that I was not able to even see my medical records from Medical Arts until I had another doctor (with another practice) request them.
TLDR; As a practice, Medical Arts could do more to be patient-focused.
