I honestly can't say enough good things about my experience at Joint & Vascular Institute. I came in for a GAE procedure on my knee after dealing with arthritis pain for over two years that was really affecting my daily life. From the moment I walked in, the front desk staff was so welcoming and helpful with all the insurance paperwork. Dr. Os and Dr. Patel both took time during my consultation to really explain everything, not just the procedure itself, but what I could realistically expect for recovery and results. You can tell they've done this hundreds of times but they never made me feel rushed or like just another patient. The day of the procedure, I was honestly pretty nervous, but Kayla and the nursing staff were amazing at keeping me calm and talking me through each step. The procedure itself was also so much easier than I expected. I was awake the whole time and barely felt anything. Dr. Patel was incredibly skilled and kept checking in to make sure I was comfortable. It's been about 3 weeks now and the difference is remarkable. I'm not completely pain-free yet but I'd say I'm at about 70% improvement already, which is way better than I hoped for this early. I was able to go grocery shopping last weekend without that constant aching I've had for months. If you're on the fence about this procedure, don't hesitate. I had an absolutely great experience at the Joint & Vascular Institute. I was a new patient that submitted an appointment request via their website on Friday at 6am, they reached out to me via text message an hour later and got me to see Dr. Patel the same day. Dr. Patel did a thorough review of my problem and history and recommended their HAE procedure. They submitted the pre authorization to my insurance and it was approved on Sunday. They got me for the procedure 2 days later. Procedure was painless and smooth. All the staff was very nice and accommodating. I couldn't be more pleased with my overall experience. After months of physical therapy, cortisone shots, knee draining and gel injections the pain returned. The earliest treatment was either knee replacement at the end of November or another round of gel injections at the end of December. I was searching for alternative treatments covered by Medicare when GAE at the Joint and Vascular Institute popped up. I was immediately interested, looked at their reviews and filled out the consultation form. I was called within an hour and was set up with a virtual visit with Dr.Ahmed to make sure I was a good candidate and my insurance covered it. The virtual visit was great. Dr. Ahmed explained everything and asked questions , ultimately saying I was a good candidate. I had recent MRI and bloodwork so I sent those. They scheduled the procedure for the following week. Lots of friendly reminders so you don't forget your appointment. The procedure was done by Dr.Patel who was equally as friendly and explained everything. The procedure was easy, painless and I loved that I was not sedated but awake. After months of pain at a 9.75 I walked out with a little discomfort but amazingly by pain level was almost a 0. I am having the right leg tomorrow and am confident that this was the solution I was looking for. The doctors at the Joint and Vascular Institute are pioneers in the procedure, the staff is amazing. I highly recommend GAE for severe OA and even more important is have it done by the best, Dr.Ahmed and Dr.Patel. This my follow-up review 2.5 months post procedure. I am happy to report significant improvement in my pain. I went from 9.75 constant stabbing pain to a 1-4 intermittant dull pain. I have two knee effusions and this week I have noticed significant reduction in swelling. I wore a knee compression sleeve on my left knee for over 8 months and finally I have not had to wear it other than for working out on the treadmill. I did not have any side effects from the procedure other than some bruising. During my initial consultation Dr. Ahmed said I could expect 55-75% improvement, I would say I have surpassed that. I would say that overall I am at 85% improvement. I am so thankful for finding the Joint & Vascular Institute and to Dr. Ahmed & Dr. Patel for giving me so much pain relief!
