My now 18 year-old son recently transitioned to Dr. de Freitas in the past two years. We have seen several pediatric cardiologists over the years and have been very happy with the Lurie's experience. Dr. de Freitas is simply the BEST cardiologist we have worked with to date. He provides ample patient-doctor time, encouraging my son to understand his condition and probing him for additional questions. He has a very intelligent, calm demeanor, and my son finds him very approachable - this is so important. He treats the entire patient and is concerned about his psychological well being as well as his heart health. Additionally, his nurse practitioner Jen is just as thorough, approachable, and bright.
The process of my son taking ownership over his own health -given the seriousness of his condition-is very stressful. Dr. de Freitas and his team have made this transition much easier.

One of the best dr.s I have met in my life. Knows what he's talking about.No beat around the bush no smart talk. A very Highly experienced man. I have one the most complex heart children's memorial and Laurier have ever seen thanks to dr. Husain and his team at Christ hospital they massaged my heart and brought me back to life in 1988 and gave me a child Fontan .2005 Children's memorial hospital dr.s were so stunned how my heart looks they tested me for hr.s to learn how these dr.s did an amazing job on my complex enlarged Fontan heart.They gave me a pacemaker but forgot to give me a adult Fontan.They messed up there but I live for another 12 years and more.Do to that mistake of not giving me a adult Fontan my child heart Fontan began to fail.Thats when I met this man he was able to help me right away he saw that my heart was slowly dying and clotting do to it was a child's heart Fontan.It wasn't pushing the full total amount of blood strong and fast anough that my body was loosing everything the heart needs to keep strong.He jumped in action admitted me to the facility of lauries cardiologist department and with in the week i felt my strength come back.
