Dr McCarthy is an excellent surgeon. He replaced my mitral valve and performed a septal myectomy. All this was 12 years ago and I am still healthy at 79 years of age!

Patrick M. McCarthy, MD is the chief of cardiac surgery at Northwestern Medicine and executive director of Bluhm Cardiovascular Institute. He has performed more than 11,000 heart operations, and currently over 80 percent involve heart valve surgery and/or atrial fibrillation surgery. Dr. McCarthy has achieved national and international recognition in the fields of complex adult cardiac surgery, including valve repair and replacement and atrial fibrillation. He is the Heller-Sacks Professor of Cardiothoracic Surgery at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine.

Dr Patrick McCarthy saved my life. After having a healthy heart scan my primary physician told me I had significant calcium deposits in my arteries and recommended me to a Cardiologist. Cardiologist ordered a Echocardiogram and was told I had an aneurysm in my aortic valve. Made an appointment with Dr McCarthy & surgery was scheduled in September, 2018. It has been five and a half years since my Aortic Valve replacement. My experience with Dr McCarthy and his staff has been nothing but outstanding. The preparation, the surgery and follow up has been more then I could have expected. I did have a Pacemaker and defibrillator by medtronic implanted two months ago and it has really improved my situation. I am doing things better then I have for quite a while.
