Dr. John P. Monteverde, MD

I went in for concern of my heart. Dr. M performed an echocardiogram in addition to a contrast dye. He told me that not only did I have a blockage in my corner artery, but that my ejection fraction was abnormal. He recommended doing a cardiac catheterization to scope my heart at Norwegian Hospital. Mind you, this hospital is not the best to go to if something should go wrong. It has no emergency Center. I spoke with my brother-in-law, who is a physician/radiologist/oncologist. He said that I should get a second opinion at a major hospital, which I did at Northwestern. I had another echocardiogram performed, and the doctor found absolutely nothing wrong with me. So, either the doctor Monte Verde has old equipment that is not accurate or he is trying to sell you on procedures for profit. In addition, when I told the receptionist/medical technician that I wanted a second opinion, they discouraged me strongly from doing so which I found a little bit strange. A second opinion is very common and one should do so especially when involving the heart. I would never recommend going to see this doctor. His practice is outdated and he is very old. Anything involving the heart, make sure you go to a major hospital, especially if something goes wrong. You are able to have a procedure done immediately rather than being transported from Norwegian hospital or his outpatient office.

Best Cardiologist Dr in Chicago... He smart, very compassionate with his patients. Great communication & always on call to answer questions. He has saved my father's life numerous times for the past 12 years. A true blessing!

Rude, rude, and rude. The doctor told me I should change my name, because it's not appropriate for a woman. He insulted me several times. I was told he would call me to give me my results (that never happened). So I called and they said i have to come in to get my results (basically they just want you to pay for another visit). I said I couldn't come in at specific time of day and the receptionist just kept offering different days at the exact same time. To top it off, they won't give me my results because I can't come in at that specific time of day. Also they only accept cash, which is extremely sketchy in my opinion.

A sincere and intelligent and hardworking doctor....a great fella and staff!! You dont have to wait for days..if its important..he will get u in...
