Patient Reviews

Patient

7 hours in the waiting room, 2 hours in a room, only to be told 6 more hours to see a doctor. Nurses were uncaring and only discussed their cellular service. I only found out about the additional 6 hours by asking. Worst emergency room anywhere. Go to the Mayo Clinic - nicer people and they actually help you - unlike the U of IA.

I have been disappointed with my experience at the UIHC Heart & Vascular Center. They are simply too busy to provide the type of patient care one would come to hope for. There are too many faces that come in and out of their office to remember the details of your personal health, let alone specifics. It's perhaps not a UIHC issue, but an industry-wide issue; one that has frustrated me to the point of being openly critical. If you are seeking proper diagnosis, there is perhaps no one better. But, I would recommend a smaller, less frantic organization if you hope to develop a relationship with your care team or receive anything closely resembling a quality customer service experience.

I will never forget when my grandmother was waiting for her appointment to start and she had a stroke. She lost speech and movement on her left side. Nurses were called and they did absolutely nothing but say "she's fine she isn't having a stroke." Took forever for my grandma to get her speech back and movement on her left side was never the same. I will forever resent this place constantly mistreating my family and guessing. Using them like guinea pigs. I'm truly happy for those who have had a great experience here you're fortunate. I pay so much for something I end up properly diagnosing myself.

My cousin went to this place displaying all symptoms of a stroke such as Sudden numbness or weakness in the face, arm, or leg, especially on one side of the body. Sudden confusion, trouble speaking, or difficulty understanding speech. Sudden trouble seeing in one or both eyes. Sudden trouble walking, dizziness, loss of balance, or lack of coordination. The nurse told her she is fine and left her alone in the room. She had a stroke and now she is partialized for life and in a wheelchair. If she were white, she would have been helped immediately. They would have given her immediate attention and taken her to the operating room right away. They don't listen to black patients. They treat black patients as if immune to pain, are more tolerant of pain, and are less susceptible to pain. Then they treated her like guinea pigs and white resident physicians practiced on her instead of staff physicians saving her life. This is the most disgusting place you've ever visited in my life. Due to their negligence and failure to take proper care in an extremely serious or urgent situation, she is now paralyzed for life.

Patient

The intensive care unit is a joke. Very unprofessional, no compassionate and the younger generation is very immature and careless. Yelled out from patience rooms left trash laying around as well in my father's bed. There was a needle, wrapping and one left their cell phone. Don't bring your loved ones here. They will be treated like a number and disrespected also more likely won't return home.
