I initially encountered Dr. Smith when he was the head of the Cardiology Department at Tripler Army Medical Center. After having a pacemaker implanted by a different, well reviewed Cardiologist in Hawaii when he chose not to answer questions which I posed to him concerning my treatment (after he had erred in placement of the pacemaker leads) I chose to change to Dr. Smith. I will forever be glad I did! Now, Dr. Smith has left Tripler and opened his own private practice. Dr. Smith is without a doubt one of the most professional practitioners I've ever encountered. He is thorough, knowledgeable, patient, and always able to explain the most complicated procedures in easy to understand terms. I have never felt rushed or hurried in his office, yet ever phase of the appointment, from vitals, EKG, stress test and actual exam is done efficiently. The entire staff is welcoming and friendly. How many times have you looked forward to a Doctor's appointment? It's hard to come up with enough superlatives to describe this practice.

A friend recommended Dr. Ryan Smith. I moved to Maui from Los Angeles, where I have a cardiologist, but needed one here to keep on doing my routine checks. When I met Dr. Smith I liked that he took his time to understand my history, which given I was a new patient made sense. Based on that he immediately had an ultrasound of my heart done - right then and there. I was impressed with him being attentive, and immediate. It took a while to get the result because the praxis is understaffed and not well organized - yet. But they are moving so I think things we be a little smoother once that's done. I like his friendly, and caring demeanor and he appears very skilled.

Dr Ryan Smith the best. He is my Cardiologist for the passed 6 years and is very knowledgeable and professional. Helped me determine the best defibrillator for the next 15 years. Mahalo.

Great medical and customer care. I don't recommend trying to have heart problems, but if you do have them, go here.
