Winter Haven Hospital

I am incredibly grateful for my awesome oncology nurse navigator, Ms. Karen Gonzalez. I thank God that he allowed her to be a part of my care team. From day one, she has been informative and has always gone above and beyond by sending resource referrals, gracefully writing letters on my behalf, and guiding me through each step of the process with patience, courteousness, and compassion. Ms. Gonzalez is also positive, dependable and responsive. It's very rare to find someone that genuinely cares. However, it's clear through her positivity, willingness to listen, supportiveness,and expeditiousness in responding to requests that she genuinely cares about her clients. Thank you , Ms. Karen, for your patience, kindness, dedication, and willingness to help.

Some people were fantastic, others, not so much. When I "checked in" for my procedure, the admitting person said it showed I had Cigna for my primary insurance, Medicare for my secondary and Connecticut General for a third. I said that this wasn't right, I had just had Cigna. She said you don't have Medicare or Connecticut General, and I told her I didn't know where they were getting their information from, but that wasn't right. She said I needed to contact Medicare and straighten this out. I responded with how would I contact them when I don't even have them. That I thought Bay Care needed to look into it, since they're the ones with the wrong information... That I don't know where they got their information from, I already said it was wrong, twice now. She said she didn't need this, and got up and left. Great first impression... But other people were fantastic. It only takes one person to ruin an otherwise great experience... I'd give the review 5 stars if it wasn't for this first person.

Dee Dee, Crystal, and the floating nurse on the observation floor are amazing! They treated me great. They were compassionate and understanding of what I was going through and they're the reason why I'm giving 5 stars. Also some woman came to check on me who was not my CNA or nurse when I was screaming in pain checked on me to see if I was okay and noticed I didn't have water and brought me a big cup of cold water. I can't remember the name of my first day nurse when I got to the observation room but she was nice to me as well and very understanding of my situation.

This hospital seems to be a joke. Taking over 5 hours to get brought back to an exam room in the ER to only have to wait for two more hours. Went for what I thought was one thing that ended up being something different. Well, we waited so long, the issue resolved itself. For being a for profit hospital, they sure don't seem focused on you as a patient. They seem more focus on socializing with their coworkers....colloid you can hear everything. I did appreciate the ED doctor, he was very nice and explained everything. I would never choose this hospital for any of my healthcare needs going forward. This place would watch you expire before taking care of you. I would not recommend that anyone come here willingly.

My experience was phenomenal. The staff were very friendly and attentive at all times. Karla from PATT answered all my questions and concerns. Stephanie and Arline from pre-op got me ready for surgery. Yazmani and Luz from OR helped me to relax answering my questions and explaining the procedure. I never got sick after the surgery. They are the best. Annie and Diana from recovery room had their eyes on me making sure that I was comfortable and keeping my pain under control. Joyce and Robin from Swann 4 welcomed me to their floor and made sure I would meet criteria in order to go home. Thank you so much to all of you for treating me like family and not just another number!
