Indian River Hospital Scully-Welsh Cancer Center

I went to this provider for cancer. I was told they would refer me for a bone scan. I asked for an appointment to discuss the results after the scan. They said no, I would get a call. I got the bone scan. Three days later, they called and said it shows cancer in my lungs and spine. They I would be referred for an MRI. I called the cancer center back, saying l wanted to talk to the doctor, and I had one question. They asked what is it. I said I wanted to know if the cancer is treatable. They said someone would call me back. About 6 hours later, I called again. They said the same thing. The next day, I went down there and asked to talk to them. I waited and was brought back by a female with graffiti tattooed on her hand. I told her I wanted to know if my cancer was treatable. She gave me a hard time and did not help or get me an answer. She asked how I knew I had cancer. I told her they told me. I asked her to please get me an answer. She said I was getting an MRI. I told her it was irrelevant to my question right now. I repeated does the doctor think right now, my cancer is treatable. She said he was busy. I gave up and left. Later. I called to talk to the office manager. They said she was busy. I asked the person if I should be informed if my cancer is treatable. She said she would message the doctor directly and find out. I never heard back. I have been a patient at this hospital since 1974. Since cleveland clinic has taken over, the service has degraded to an unacceptable level. I am absolutely shocked how calloused some of them are. And, a few are respectful and kind, but they don't have the power to fix the bad employees' failures. If you read the cleveland clinic hospital reviews, you find much worst treatment of patients. Why did cleveland clinic come here to provide unacceptable service and lose millions of dollars? I am glad the citizens refused to bail them out. I think CC should have the contract revoked, and MAYO or Orlando Health take over.

The nurses in the chemo rooms are great, no complaints at all. The administration does not have any empathy for the caregivers that try to keep the patients company...they have replaced the comfortable chairs with hard and VERY uncomfortable chairs! As sore as I was after 3 hours in a chair the size and shape of a school chair, I can't even imagine how the elderly lady in the room next to us was Guys, do better! We're trying to be there for our loved ones in one of the worst experiences of their lives, at least give us a chair that we can relax in for the 3-5 hors we are in your establishment every week!

As a cancer patient, I have been receiving treatment at Scully Welsh. Staff have been uniformly supportive and courteous in their treatment. While I have no basis to compare this clinic with other cancer clinics, they are far above other non cancer clinics. The facility itself is quite new and lends itself to.positive experiences.

I recently finished Radiation treatments at Scully/ Welsh center under the care of Dr M. Apple . As a person familiar with hospital life ,this department is well organized and has an an excellent team of technicians and nurses . Dr Apple spends time weekly with patients and explained to me in detail the risks and benefits of radiation therapy. This area of Scully/Welsh is totally immersed in patient care ,the ladies who are at the front desk excellent and show commitment to patients well being. I believe DrApple's leadership is the reason this unit functions so effectively. The amount of skill and education to have this team succeed is remarkable. We are fortunate here in Vero Beach to have such a facility, and the philanthropic spirit which made it possible. There is also an alternative program for those who wish to participate. I did acupuncture with Jenna Peterson and this helped with nausea etc . This facility is succeeding because of the team's commitment Mary B Cox

I have been an oncology patient at CC Weston since 2020. Last year my oncologist in Boston referred me to Scully Welch for radiation treatment. When I was diagnosed with Hodgkin's lymphoma in 2024, I Had 6 months of treatment at Dana Farber in Boston. Excellent doctor and staff. My care team sent an order to S-W for follow up bloodwork and a port flush. I am a seasonal resident of Vero Beach and despite the order from my Boston oncologist ( who is licensed in FL) I Was told I could not receive this service at Scully Welch because I had no local oncologist! I am making a 2 hour drive to Weston for bloodwork and a port flush! Very disappointed in the IR Cleveland Clinic. Will reconsider donations in the future.
