My surgery went as planned with no issues or concerns. The operating room doctors and staff couldn't have been any better with positive attitudes and attention to my understanding and comfort. Dr. Clark Metzger (my surgeon) and his staff were outstanding beyond words. Their cheerful attitude mixed with a little humor make for a relaxing atmosphere. I rated my hospital experience only, with a 4 star instead of 5, due to no contact after surgery. My surgery was on Thursday and discharged the same day. I expected a followup wellness check Friday, but no one called, even throughout the weekend. That is the only disappointment I had during an otherwise positive experience.

Today I saw Holley Smith, APRN and her nurse Anita. I can not express how pleased I was with my appt. Anita took the time to get my information but it was something different about her.... She genuinely cared about what I had to say. She made me feel completely at ease!!! Holley was truly amazing again she took the time to hear me out, explain her concerns and start a plan for my healthcare. I will not be going anywhere else!!! I HIGHLY recommend her! My husband has been admitted to this hospital multiple times, and despite ongoing visits, the staff has failed to identify or adequately address the cause of his severe head pain and pressure. He has been suffering from this headache for over two months. Because basic scans continue to come back "normal," he is repeatedly discharged without further investigation, rather than receiving comprehensive care. I repeatedly advocated for my husband and requested an MRI of his back, which was refused--even after I, his wife, directly asked for it. Instead, the care team had no hesitation in drug testing him extensively, yet declined to perform diagnostic testing that the patient and family were requesting to help determine the root cause of his symptoms. My husband is a United States veteran and has multiple medical issues that warrant careful attention. On the fourth floor, the charge nurse, Cassidy, appeared to retaliate against my husband for advocating for himself by placing a bed alarm on him, despite no safety justification being explained. Additionally, Dr. Wei laughed when my husband explained everything he has endured, which was incredibly dismissive and unprofessional. I requested to speak with the house supervisor, but no one ever came to speak with me. The lack of communication and accountability is alarming. This hospital continues to administer "migraine cocktails" that do not work, without attempting to identify the underlying cause of his pain. This reflects a larger issue in American healthcare treating symptoms instead of patients. My husband is young, but that does not mean his pain should be minimized or ignored. What is most concerning is that my husband's physician at the Navy hospital requested a specific procedure, and the hospital staff here disagreed and refused to follow through. Patients should not be treated as a burden simply because they are seeking answers. My husband does not want to be hospitalized he wants help. Unfortunately, that help has not been provided. Due to the seriousness of these issues, I will be escalating this complaint beyond this hospital. No patient or family should have to fight this hard to be heard.

Their attention to detail and how they explained each procedure to me was so appreciated.The hospital is extremely clean. The OR staff, pre and post- op nurses and my doctor, Dr. Jaacks, could not have given me better care. I drive an hour to use this hospital and it's worth every minute, and more!
