Dr. Barry D. Harris, MD

My dad has been with Dr Harris over 20 years and I have been with him almost 10. I find him very straightforward and an extremely competent cardiologist. He's always there for our family in case of a crisis no matter what time of day or night. He's very caring especially with my 93 1/2 year old dad.

My first encounter with Dr. Harris was very rude. I am a pharmacist and I called to verify a drug interaction for a patient. The patient was not sure and wanted me to make sure it was safe for him to take. He basically ranted about being a cardiologist for over 30 years and hung up with an attitude. This was completely uncalled for, especially since it was regarding the safety of a patient. I never write reviews, but this really made me upset. I cannot speak to his clinical experience, but his attitude was very poor.

I find Dr. Harris has a no nonsense approach that I find refreshing. I believe he is God sent. I have been to see him with 3 Aunts, my mom and myself. He always explained in depth of what has to be done, like no smoking, eat healthier, ect ... He may have a brash way about him that offends people. I hate seeing bad reviews. God bless to your families but Dr. Harris has 2 thumbs up in my book.

I have used Dr. Harris as my cardiologist for nearly 20 years and have found him to be one of the most competent medical professionals in South Florida. He has resolved a number of medical challenges over the years where my cardiac issues have been concerned. I wholeheartedly recommend him to people in need of medical treatment for cardiac care. Dr. Harris's direct, honest approach to interpersonal relationships suits me fine. Others may, and I suspect have, misunderstood his straight forward way of communicating as less than desirable bedside manner. I do not agree with them. I'll take his unvarnished approach to integrity and honesty as a medical professional any day of the week over others who would "purr their way around" patients' personalities and egos. Barry Harris, in my opinion, is one of the best cardiologists practicing in South Florida. This is beyond terrible bedside manner. Dr. Harris is negligent & discriminatory. Despite him over-talking me & my mother numerous times when asking questions, he completely dismissed my mother's concerns about my grandma's recent behavior/symptoms after he prescribed a drug. Soon after it sent her thyroid levels THROUGH THE ROOF. Avoided doing critical labs that could've caught issue prior to worsening and said, "I'm not a psychologist! Your mother is OLD and has a BAD HEART! What do you want me to do about it!" A week later she ended up in the ER with levels higher than the specialist had ever seen. We could've lost my grandma.
