John Morytko, M.D., FACC, is a cardiologist at Miami Cardiac & Vascular Institute who has has more than 25 years of experience in his field. He specializes in in the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of diseases and defects of the heart and circulatory system. He treats such conditions as heart attack, heart failure, heart murmur and hypertension. Dr. Morytko has been involved in clinical research studies to improve the efficacy and safety of treatments for heart disease. In addition to being a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology, he is a member of the American Society of Echocardiography.

Yesterday, I took my mother to her cardiologist for a surgical clearance appointment, and I have to say the overall energy during the visit felt a bit off-putting. When the doctor entered the room, he acknowledged my mother but did not acknowledge me, which felt somewhat dismissive.
He then rather dramatically remarked, "She's having another surgery?" I confirmed that it was for her knee replacement. Following that, he asked my mother if everything was okay at home -- a question that struck me as odd. My mother lives very comfortably; it's just the two of us, and she is truly cared for. Our home is clean, well-furnished, and we are fortunate to live quite well. We often go out to eat, travel, and she recently renewed her passport -- in fact, we're planning a trip to Montreal, Canada, in a few months.
There are also a few corrections that need to be made in her medical chart. Also, this doctor does not go indept about findings on diagnostic test. Prior to the visit that day my mother and I had just had a wonderful lunch and were feeling great. However, his weird behavior ruined the mood for me especially.
