He has more than 40 years of experience, and his specialties include general cardiology, lifestyle management, chronic pulmonary heart disease, aortic aneurysm, mitral valve disease, sinus bradycardia, ventricular tachycardia, supraventricular tachycardia and rheumatic mitral stenosis. Dr. Messersmith received his medical degree from the University of Miami in Coral Gables, Florida. He completed an internal medicine residency at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, New York, and a cardiovascular disease fellowship at the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland.

The best cardiologist and one of the best doctors around in my opinion and I have been to many doctors in 73 years. He is very knowledgeable, prompt, through, cordial, and experienced. No waiting for appointments. He examines me well, answers all questions, doesn't rush me, and keeps things positive. I enjoyed seeing him and will miss him after he retires in 2026. Love my Dr.. Messersmith. He took over for Dr. Shariff whom I thought no one could replace. He explains to me on my level where I can understand. He is. Always friendly and encouraging. Dr. Messersmith is not only a great cardiologist but, a great man also. I was a nurse for 25 years with a cardiac specialty. He spoke with me at my level of understanding and then was able to change it up and speak with my wife at her level. He also understood the human side of my cardiac issues and spoke realistically to that also, not just to the clinical side. He spent the right amount of time with us and never seemed rushed to go to the next patient. He answered all my questions with honesty. I love Dr.Messersmith to pieces, he listens and truly cares about his patients, I hate to see him go, but I wish him well, health and happiness, and may God bless him dearly, the next Dr. Will have some pretty good shoes to try and fill.
