Robert Lager, MD, is a clinical cardiologist at MedStar Washington Hospital Center and Physician Lead of MedStar Cardiology Associates, a 43-physician group at MedStar Health. He is also Director of MedStar Ambulatory Services for the Southern region, covering DC and Southern Maryland. With 20 years as an interventional cardiologist and over 10,000 cardiac catheterizations performed, Dr Lager has been a national proctor for Abbott and Medtronic, training physicians in the transradial wrist approach. He has also trained cardiology fellows and contributed to interventional cardiology research.

Dr. Lager was thorough, knowledgeable and welcoming. He took his time to review my chart including imaging, labs, PMH, and family history. He made what I thought was going to be a quick, routine visit feel informative and important. Furthermore, the entire team at this facility from the admin staff to the medical assistant were equally excellent.
Dr Lager is very knowledgeable, supportive and caring. He explains things well, takes time with you and makes you feel valued! I can be fiesty, but he just laughs and understands. A good guy and reminds me of how doctors used to be...you don't feel like just a number! The office staff is also kind, professional and welcoming!

His work as an interventionalist cardiologist for 20 years gives him a unique perspective on understanding the internal workings of the heart. He carefully listens to questions posed to him, and answers the concerns of the patient in terms that are easily understandable. Dr. Lager is an empathetic individual who cares about each person he sees. I am delighted to be his patient. I would recommend him without hesitation or reservation. In fact, I feel lucky to have found him.
I really cannot say enough good about my visit with Dr. Lager beginning with check-in. The receptionists were very friendly and efficient. I was in a patient room within 5 minutes of arrival. The intake person was likewise friendly, thorough, and efficient. When Dr. Lager came into the room, the positive experience continued. The examination was thorough. He explained the reasons for each step in the examination and procedures that I should follow before my follow-up visit. His tone was friendly but matter of fact. Instructions were clear. When I checked out, I was given a written summary of the visit and instructions for follow up. What a wonderful experience with a first ever visit with a cardiologist!
Dr. Robert Lager and all his staff are very professional, knowledgeable and caring people. Dr. Lager took his time to explain me everything related to my condition, the medication and what to do and don't do to avoid any health issues. Very informative and helpful. Highly recommended.
