Christian Shults, MD, is a cardiac surgeon and interim director of the Department of Cardiac Surgery at MedStar Washington Hospital Center. Dr Shults specializes in the treatment of complex aortic disease, structural heart disease, valvular disease, coronary artery disease, and atrial fibrillation through the use of open, endovascular, minimally invasive, and transcatheter treatment therapies. He treats patients with various types of aortic aneurysms. As a National Proctor for the Convergent Procedure for minimally invasive treatment of atrial fibrillation, Dr Shults has performed one of the highest volumes of this procedure in the country and gives lectures nationwide to other physicians about the procedure.

I am extremely pleased with the outcome of my telehealth visit with Dr. Shults. I found him to be patient, responsive and thorough in addressing all of my questions and concerns. I left this session feeling that I will receive the best of care.
Dr Shults operated in December 2023, and I have had a great recovery. I was treated very well at Medstar Hospital Washington and went successfully through cardiac rehab at Inova Alexandria. I can do pretty strenuous workouts today and go cycling with no problem. I am very very fortunate that Dr. Shults could perform the operation. I wish all his future patients the very best and I owe him my deepest thanks.
