UConn Health Urgent Care - Downtown Storrs

Don't EVER go here. Charged me for an ER visit AND an urgent care visit. Absolutely ridiculous charging $530 for a strep test (that's all they did). Please avoid them at all costs. When I called them asking why the bill was so high, they explained that they charge for both an urgent care and an ER visit (basically more than doubling the bill without telling people beforehand). The staff member we spoke to even said to not go there again because of the terrible billing. You know it's bad when your own insurance tells you to avoid this place as well because of how many calls they get complaining about their unreasonable prices / billing. The staff are extremely kind so it's not their fault but unless you wanna pay close to $600 for a simple sick visit, go literally anywhere else.

This business is a scam operation, if you are a uconn student DO NOT GO HERE. Basically they have you sign paperwork that you CANNOT see, tell you they aren't associated with uconn, and then charge you for a HOSPITAL VISIT, so your $50 copay walk in is now $500. They are disgusting and aim to take advantage of unknowing students, please go to an on campus wellness center, this is advice I wish I had known before I got scammed. Here you can see they charge $50 and then change it to $423.27.

We've had mixed experiences. We brought our 3 year old son for a cut on his head and they gave him a staple (and didn't warn him before doing it) and that was pretty traumatizing. His primary doctor couldn't believe they didn't just do glue. However, we went today because he had some wheezing and the front desk/x-ray technician was AMAZING. My son couldn't have had a better experience and shes just the best

Scammers - billed me 500 for an emergency room visit when i saw them for 10 mins with no diagnosis. Doctor was rude and acted like she didnt want to be there

The staff was very nice, caring and professional. However, not enough to make the $300 bill worth it. I used UConn Health's online estimate tool to estimate the cost of urgent care, and while the overall bill was accurate, it claimed insurance would've paid for the full cost. Insurance ONLY PAID FOR $229. So either they have some serious bugs in that tool that need to be updated, or they purposefully fudged the tool so clueless consumers will get ensnared in their greedy trap. In addition, when calling UConn Health Urgent Care, they didn't provide any further details to the costs of the visit than the very broad categories of "professional care" for $240, "urgent care" for $235, and the cost of the strep test for $54. So were the two cans of ginger ale that I drank $100 each? Was the wheelchair they placed me in for being unsteady and exhausted another $100? I guess I'll never know. Either way, use UConn Health and this clinic at your own financial risk. (Also, UConn Health was caught overbilling on Medicare by the federal government and fined $185,000, so they have a history)
