Michael C. Tushla, MD

Normally, I'd give Dr. Tushla 5 Starts for his medical help and professionalism. My negative 1 star is for the way the office is being run. I have a stye and I'm sure it's infected in need of antibiotics. I called to get an appointment and got a call center that asked some stupid questions. I wanted to speak with the office to set an appointment the next day. Nothing. I went to the office and the office assistant said I could see Dr. Tushla in 11 days or go to an urgent care. I've had 4 Doctors in 71 years. This is ridiculous! I'm looking for an office that I can walk in and the staff will get me in to see the doctor when there is an infection. Good grief Doc.

Dr Tushla is a very personable doctor and he is pretty easy to talk to. However, there are 2 main issues with the quality of the care provided. Firstly, it can take anywhere from 3 weeks to a month and a half to get an available appointment, which seems absurd. What makes this even worse is that his office is still accepting new patients even though the office is having a hard time accommodating current patients. Secondly, the office staff is extremely slow and inefficient at submitting referral requests to insurance providers. For my most recent PT referral, it took the office staff 10 DAYS just to submit the request to my insurance.

Good doctors, horrible office. It is almost impossible to reach them on the phone ( either no answer or hour wait time) They have messed up my test orders before, will not call your insurance to get medication pre-approval for you, unless you are literally standing over their head. We have started having to come to the office just to make appointments and resolve issues. Bad record keeping as well ( changed my pharmacy numerous times, but my prescription keeps getting called into the wrong place, no record of my female wellness exam on file) Last time I went, I had to wait over an hour in a room with no air conditioning, even though the waiting room only had a couple of people there) I think that a staff change and a new office manager are needed, because these practices are chasing the patients away from both Dr Mike and a great NP who works there. Sadly, I don't think I will be returning.

My wife and I have been treated by Dr. Mike for many years. Not only us, but two daughters, a grandson, and even my daughter's mother-in-law. Sort of the quintessential definition of a family doctor. Although he has a busy practice he always finds time to talk to you to discuss the issues that brought you into the office. He's very easy to talk to and has a very honest demeanor . Even with all of his medical duties he still finds time to volunteer in the community as well. He is a good doctor and a good man. We like him and salute his caring and concern.

I have been going to Dr Mike for many years and have not once been let down. He is caring and considerate. He always takes the time to listen you and is very supportive. You can tell he really cares about his patients. I have taken 2 of my kids there and he asks about them every time I go in. Highly Recommended
