I was most fortunate to have Dr. Bilal Shafi as my heart surgeon at Mills Hospital in Burlingame. Dr. Shafi and his team worked together in preparing me for the surgery and provided outstanding care throughout the whole process. The staff was responsive, followup when I had questions, and went above and beyond to help make my surgery a great success. I can honestly recommend Dr Shafi without hesitation.

Given my overall very good health, I never expected to need open heart surgery to rebuild by aortic system, but Dr. Shafi and his team (especially April) made the best out of a horrible situation. Bottom line...this doctor saved my life. He has a fact based, no nonsense approach, but was sympathetic to our concerns and answered all of our questions along the way. 6 months post op, I am back to working out, lifting weights, hiking, biking, etc., without any restrictions and no medications. Thank you Dr. Shafi!
