Find another primary care provider if possible - this place is understaffed and poorly ran. First, good luck trying to get ahold of anyone at the front desk. You'll likely spend at least 30 minutes on hold listening to "we're experiencing higher than normal call volume" message on repeat. Takes forever just to get an appointment. I hadn't seen my doctor in about a year, but needed a critical prescription refilled. My request was denied and was told I needed to make an appointment to get it refilled. Fine I get it, but having to wait 2 months for a virtual appointment just to get a prescription refilled is ridiculous. Joined a concierge primary care and night and day difference. Next day appointment, 24/7 support, phones answered immediately, doctor comes in at scheduled appointment time, great service.

Dr. Ogawa has been my family doctor since 2022. She is a great physician who always carefully listens to my concerns, makes sound diagnosis and always provide helpful advice. I'd strongly recommend her.

UCSF San Mateo primary care is the only primary care clinic receiving new patients right now, so I don't have a choice and have to come here. My first PCP has been gaslighting my concern and can't even code a lab order correctly. None of my specialists wants to work with him. So I requested to switch to a second PCP. They made me wait for 4 weeks as a "new patient" even though I am already an established patient with the practice. When I sent a message to explain why I needed to be seen earlier, my message got intercepted by their medical assistants who lack the medical knowledge and skills to triage patient messages! In all other primary clinics across the country, patient messages are triaged by a nurse, sometimes NP or PA, I find it ridiculous how this practice is managed. No wonder others complain about a plethora of problems with this clinic. I am giving it one star because I am reserving a star for my new PCP. Hopefully, he doesn't disappoint and is worth the wait. But I am not holding my hopes up high because a responsible PCP would not leave his entire inbox to MAs hands-off. At the end of the day, patient management is MD's responsibility and so far I have not seen or felt "care" by anyone in this clinic.

★★

I had a very poor experience here, both with my doctor and on the administrative side. The doctor was dismissive and missed something major than my next doctor easily investigated and solved. It felt like this doctor did not have the time or interest in solving my issue. The admin/tech side seemed very outdated and inefficient compared to other doctor's offices. They need to improve the quality of their patient care overall.

Zero star actually! Don't go to this place for primary care! Went to this place about 4 month ago for an annual check with Dr Kim, which is suppose to be covered 100% by the insurance. I called 10+ times to get the appointment just because this place is convenient to me. However, I was billed $500+ out-of-pocket. They claim that this is an establish care not annual check. However, they never state this information during the call or during the check. Honestly there is nothing different during the visit, height/weight, blood pressure, lab tests order etc. Wrote an appeal email but never got responses.
