Andreas Sakopoulos, MD, FACS, joined the medical staff at Salinas Valley Memorial Hospital and became part of the Salinas Valley Memorial Healthcare System in June 2020 as the new medical director and lead of the cardiothoracic and vascular surgery program. Dr Sakopoulos has more than 30 years' experience in all cardiac, thoracic and vascular operations. In the cardiac arena he is very accomplished in heart valve replacements and repairs; transcatheter aortic valve replacements (TAVRs); coronary artery bypass operations (CABGs), including "off-pump" procedures; minimal access surgery; and has a particular interest in aortic surgery, including aneurysms and dissections.

Dr. Sakopoulos saw to my dad's lung surgery, he was empathetic and honest about the delicate state my father was in. My family and I are incredibly grateful for his expertise and skills that resulted in a successful operation. I Love this surgeon! He's my Angel! I had an Aortic Mechanical Valve Replacement on Nov. 9 2017. I went in for a Tissue Valve, but it didn't fit in my chest. Dr. Sakopoulos went out to my family and let them know he could put in a Mechanical Valve. They agreed and I am Alive today! My father some years ago passed away on the same operating table with a different Heart Surgeon, so I am very blessed to have this surgeon perform my surgery. Also I visited his office a few times with my family to ask questions before the surgery. He saw me each time and answered all. A few days after the surgery he visited with me in the hospital room and took a picture with me! He is a down to earth easy person to speak with.
He is not a reliable surgeon. He has canceled 3 times not even giving 24 hour notice. And also has canceled without notification to his patient. Having my father show up at 5am to the hospital expecting surgery. Very disappointed to know A Dr. Would even treat a human with illness like my father without having consideration to call. Would never recommend his service to anyone.
Dr. Sakopoulos is second to no one. He is the kindest, wisest and the most professional Surgeon. I am sending love and respects to him and his entire team, Thank you Dr. Sakopoulos and PA Maggy!!
